The perfect storm ! Update

I've just got back from a nice ride in the countryside, perfect winter's day, sunny, no clouds, warmish and no wind.

.....but tomorrow we are forecasted for a unique storm to hit our area. I live less than 20km away from the picture in today's newspaper. It's coming across from the Tasman Sea or the ditch that's between OZ and NZ.

Muriwai, west coast of Auckland

woooo!
Ever since I was 4 I'd always elope my parents to go watch thunder storms! I caused some panic back in those days and I've got some fond memories of having a bit of loving correction applied by my father . I love a perfect storm.

Stay safe!

Batten down that hatches, John!!!

Yeah, the US gulf coast and Atlantic Ocean coastal regions are in their hurricane season right now.

Luckily, California is about 2,000 miles away from all that...

There are those earthquakes from time-to-time though...

....... well it's gathering some strength now.I've just been out and cleared the drains and restaked a couple of trees that didnt look too happy. Now just keep my fingers crossed.

'extreme gale force winds' and heavy rain is the latest forecast.

Luckily tonight's rugby test between NZ and Australia is being played in Australia!

The front looks pretty ugly on the BOM.

The "summer" storms are on of the reasons that we settled in Brisbane. Huge, impressive cloud mass. Humid and hot, sitting on the verandah with a beer (or two) waiting for the cooling wind and lashing rain.

Storms are great IMO.

Well it's hit us as Ice indicates, my farm windmill is taking off like an aircraft propeller, all the trees leaning heavily over and rain is lashing down the eastern side of my house like the inside of a car wash.

Phone line keeps going on and off and so does the power, if it gets any worse am going to have to go to my emergency power generator and that means using gas !

Same thing predicted tomorrow, if you Aussies have anything better over there than send it over at mates rates.
Meanwhile I'm hoping the easterlies change to westerlies and send it over the Pacific in the direction of Honolulu !

Don't fret Tbag,

We are already getting some of it and it will get worse.

Coming into hurricane season here as we are, it is time to be making sure all the battery operated stuff still works and stocking up on food stuffs, butane canisters and toilet paper.

..... dont tempt them tbird

This rubbish came from them in the 1st place - I wish we could send it back - but a detour north to Hawaii would be almost as much fun

Grant

ps - no Sky (satellite) TV at the moment due to rain fade so will have to check whether we can get the rugby online somehow

Take it easy out there chaps. Hope all is well.

I don't know anything about strong winds.

Except on saturday and sunday mornings obviously.
