Oh the Pain.......

I got back several hours ago from Cape May New Jersey. The weather was excellent. The sun was shining and it was just great! Unfortunately I failed to use enough sun block, especially after going in and out of the water. I am as red as a Maine Lobster. After Monday I could have fried an egg on my chest. I mean I am going through solarcaine like Gas in a SUV. After 52 years you would think I would learn. I guess I am good for a few more years now until it becomes vague in my memory and once again I get cooked.

Been there, done that, purchased multiple T shirts.

I went to Mildenhall airshow in the UK one year with some "friends", who kindly let me doze off in full sunlight (the one blistering day in the UK that year).

Well, blistering was right, I had to ride home with a face full of ***** blisters in a full face lid, which pleasantly then stuck to my face.

Gross.

I had heat stroke, a face that fell off constantly for a week after that and had to throw away perfectly good Shoei lid - not before suffering the agony of removing it.

You don't uncover yourself in sunlight very readily after that kind of an experience I tell you what.

Did that once in Greece while snorkeling. Didn't use enough SPF and lost track of how long I was in the water with my back facing up at the sun for hours. Man I got seriously fried (close to 2nd degree.)

The pain sucked but the worst was the unbelievable itching several days later in England. I think I got 3 hours of sleep that entire week.
Tried to sleep on my stomach but I just don't sleep well that way.

No, the older we get the better we were.

We don't necessarily get any smarter.

I have recently had a skin cancer cut out from my back/shoulder after getting caught a couple of times like that when I was younger.

One thing about living in a state of continous sunshine, it gives you a renewed obsession of covering up in the sun and being careful even when in the shade!

My Dad, who went to Coast Guard basic training in Cape May New Jersey (1959), got some really bad sunburn while in Cuba in the 1960's STILL has dry skin because of that. On top of that he's had some small skin melanoma removed from his ears & back in recent years. Gotta take care in the sun Riding as well as while on the beach.
