Help finding a bike for my buddy

I have a friend who is ready, cash in hand, to buy a used bike. He's really attracted to sportsters and also likes my TBird a lot... basically a middle-weight cruiser or standard with a lean look, somewhere in the US$4,000 range.

We've gone to see a couple sportsters and they turned out to be absolute crap as far as the condition.

Without getting into the "he should get an sv650 or a Ninja 250 starter bike" conversation... can anyone recommend a comparable bike?

Sounds like you should reverse the topic heading and call it 'Help find a buddy for my bike' looks like he's a customer for a TB or TBS, but then again I'm biased !

Good Luck. Only Triumphs in St Pete area I have seen in that range are some older Sprints. Think Euro in Tampa lists a used one on their website.

Is he interesed in maybe a Tiger? Was just looking at one on Walnecks, a 2001 for about $4500

yeah... you're right. I found him a 2000 sportster 883 for $4400... and a 2001 Bonnie also for $4400 that we will probably go look at today. Of course I think he should get the triumph, but I don't want to steer him either way being that it's his first bike. He really seems stuck on the sportster, though.

It's hard to explain how much more unique a Triumph is... luckily it's closer and we'll stop there first; maybe he'll get the itch

NoDice, of course you shouldn't unduly influence your friend's choice for his first bike but you should give him the fair warning that should he choose the Sporster, you'll have to disavow him in any public settings so your friendship would be destined for a clandestine nature.

I see those remarks so many times in the Classic Triple forum, and riders wanting to buy theirs back or another one, it underlines my own view that I will never sell mine.

Probably the best bike that Triumph, Hinckley or Meriden, ever made !

Except for my Bonneville obviously! That's actually the best bike ever made, ever!

This was a totally objective viewpoint, scientifically valid and everything. Ha!

How many times have we said this. I've lost count. I'll never sell the T-Bird.
