El Pasoan allegedly fakes abduction to dupe his wife

An El Paso man was arrested Thursday by Doņa Ana County sheriff's investigators after allegedly claiming he was kidnapped in order to avoid getting in trouble with his wife after staying out all night with friends.
Juan Carlos Rivas, 31, of the 2600 block of Lake Spree, was jailed on a misdemeanor charge of making a false report.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Rivas allegedly told investigators that he was bound, forced to drink transmission fluid and left in the trunk of his car abandoned under a river levee bridge near San Mi guel. But eventually Rivas admitted the tale was a hoax to cover up after hanging out with three friends, two of whom are women, investigators said.

Investigators said Rivas allegedly struck his head against the side of his car and poured transmission fluid on himself to look like he was roughed up by the kidnappers.

I understand his wife first phoned 10 of her girlfriends the morning he was missing who said they had never seen him the night before, she then phoned his 10 best friends. 8 of them said he had stayed overnight with them and 2 of them said he was still there !

...or carry a bit of blue pool chalk, before you go home, rub a bit over your ear and plead sorry that you've been out all night leaving her all alone, admit that you were out drinking hard liqour all night long in the company of fit women and when she spots the chalk she'll say "It's all right honey, I just knew you were playing darts with your mates, you left chalk marks behing your ear"

We had this happen in Birmingham a few years back. The guy disappeared the day the welfare check came. Showed up 2 days later looking a little hagard and claiming he was kidnapped and put in the trunk of a car and driven around all weekend and then released.

He finally admitted he spent all the money partying and was afraid to tell his wife the truth.
