Well it's US130 a barrel now and I've just read elsewhere it will soon be $150 a barrel, someone is continuing the snow job on the world and saying there is a shortage.
Much of this is focused in China, which is expected to sharply raise its diesel imports following the earthquake that devastated Sichuan province last week, building on already-heavy stockpiling for the Olympic Games in August.
I see they are running out of excuses and reasons on how to hike up the price, the above is the latest unbelievable excuse.
I'm certainly planning my vehicle trips and not going anywhere where I can put it off until tomorrow and making fewer journeys. However I'm riding my bike more and it just cost me $30 to fill up it up.
---------------
Ride on !

I stopped and got some beer tonight on my way to a friends house to work on his Yamaha. The beer distributor had a sign on the counter that read "Its finally happened, beer is cheaper than gas." How true; sad but true. I bought a 30 pack of High life for 18.40. 30 cans times 12ozs per can comes out to 360 ozs. 360 divided by 144 ounces per gallon comes out to 2.50 per gallon of Miller High Life. So yes beer is cheaper than gas. I wish my Thrux would run on High Life.

Gasoline in Scotland is $9.00+ per gallon.
There is a bubble waiting to burst here in the US, but the long term return of sub $2.00 or so gas is over, me thinks.
The speculators have helped drive pricing over the top, in the near term, but the economic fundamentals of the BRIC nations, the continuous shut down problems in Nigeria, Venezuela, etc., the inability of Congress and the USA electorate to decide on an energy policy, both from exploration and utilization standpoints, have us tied in a Gordian knot, it seems.
Ride safe, and smart.

You guys don't know how good you've got it in the US. Petrol (or gas to you guys!?!) here in the UK is about £1.12 - £1.15 a litre at the mo, that's £5.10 or so a gallon(imp) - around about $10 US!! And it's increasing by about 3-4p per litre each week. Of course, about 70% of that cost is tax!
Plus, we've recently been told that the Government is to increase Road Tax for bigger innefficient cars in an effort to make us be more 'green'; mine's more than doubling next year!
We're being stiffed here because we're an easy target as no-one wants to give up their vehicles. I for one will have to start using one of the bikes a bit more to keep costs down.

Not to be picky, but it's 128 Ounces/Gallon, not 144. Either way, it's a travesty.
Government Officials ride around in (or are driven around in) huge gas guzzling SUV's and luxury cars, at the taxpayers expense. Insider trading information is relayed to these same government officials to "get rich on". Oil Companies post record profits.
Does anyone believe for a moment that any of this will end soon? Why would it?

It's the speculation in the oil futures markets that's probably the culprit, combine that with the ailing dollar - not forgetting that 'Peak Oil' has been and gone some while back - plus the fact that we're at WAR! But if beer is cheaper, checkout what a teetotal fuel might do!

Who knows for sure if that is bs., if it isn't...... well I guess there'll be a few p'd off people especially when gas is 200 bucks a barrel after the next election!

My 8 year old daughter just started her summer break. She asked where we would be going this year as we usually take family trips. I told her this year was going to be different and she asked why? My response was, we're going as far as your little legs can take you. Doing things the old fashioned way!!! And, as a child of her age will do, i got the "Moooommmm, that's not funny" response.
time to break down and get her a helmet and gear to ride on the back...besides, roadtrips on the bike are more fun...just wish I had a sidecar for the two dogs!!!
