The market being in the toilet, I spur of the moment decided to pack up all my cares and woes, toothbrush, etc. and head northwards. Eschewing the super slabs, I picked my way on county roads up towards the Siren/Spooner area of NW Wisconsin.
Here's a pic of Crooked Lake, in Siren:
I tooled around the backwoods roads for much of the afternoon, then returned to Siren. I was ready for a cup of coffee.
I stopped here: The "Pour House"

Clever name for a bar, is it not?
I stroll in. There are a group of geriatrics playing bridge at one table, and 3 or 4 unshaven sots at the bar, nursing beers and grudges.
The bar wench asked for my order.
"A cup of coffee, please."
"How much are you going to drink, cuz I ain't making a fresh pot if you're just goin to have one cup."
(Wisconsin is famous for its 'Customer is always right' attitude)
"A coke then."
So long friendly Siren. On to Spooner, where I was fortunate in finding 4 Star accommodations at the Inn Towne Hotel:
My own plastic chair to loll the time away, staring at the parking lot!
I walked down to a local, had a beer or three, picked up a slice of pizza, and spent the evening watching TV and opening the door to make sure my bike was still there.
I cruised home this morning, half freezing to death, as the temp was 37 when I started out.
340 miles in roughly 24 hours. Good fun.
