What would you give up

in order to know the answers to all of life's mysteries? If you were given a choice to sacrifice years of your life or family or something very dear to you in order to learn the answers to every question you may have had about life and existence, would you? I mean every answer. Or are the answers not that important?

What fun would knowing all the answers be?

The fun is in trying to find out.

I don't want to be given the answers - therefore I obviously won't give anything up for them.

To know all the answers to all the mysteries of life?

No, oddly enough, I'd rather not know.

Sort of like when you buy that new fancy car, then two days later you realise your life hasn't really changed as much as you may have thought. Or that big fancy house? Or the new set of clothes? Material things never change us; intellectual, spiritual and metaphysical changes are what really matter. If we knew all of these things, what's the point of further intellectual pursuit?

We are what we are. The "mysteries" keep us hoping, or retain our firm beliefs, that something different, new and life altering is around every corner.

Now, having said all that... how is it that you get the Bonneville gas cap off?

I have no questions therefore I have no use for the answers.

Not to nitpick - but that is only the answer to one question.

Admittedly - it is THE question, the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.

I wouldn't mind knowing what the lottery numbers are going to be next Saturday night.

That being the case - you should consider what you would be prepared to give up in order to have that knowledge, per the original posters musings.

If this were the twilight zone, you would gain that knowledge at MASSIVE personal loss, only to end up winning the lottery at the same time as one hundred million other people..................

Yes I did think about saying that I would give my right arm for those numbers - but then I decided I should be careful what I wish for.
