Open letter to all inconsiderate weekend warriors
Just a simple open letter to all those inconsiderate weekend warriors who feel the need to blast a 35 mile radius with their obnoxious open pipes. Well done, we all heard you, even the cops, and the anti-motorcycle lobbyists. Thank you again. It is not like some of us use our bikes for transportaion. No sir, we are all weekend look-at-me warriors that will move onto the next trend when motorcycles are legislated off the roads.
Yes, I had an encounter today with one of these people.

At least the doofus who used to live across the street with the Harley & pipes moved away. He was prone to cranking it up at 7am on Sunday mornings... The only other bike in my development now is a Speed Triple around the corner, and that just purrs when it goes by.....

Broom, Broom, Broom
I've only been riding two years now. My first bike was a 04' Honda VT750 Shadow. The previous owner had put Cobra straight pipes on it. Yes it was loud. On Saturdays I would push the bike down the street and around the corner to start it up b4 going to work, or on Sundays I would do the same when going out for an early ride (I ride every day so I pushed that bike a lot).
The Tiger on the other hand is nice. Though I do read many riders who install louder mufflers on theirs.

You've put me in a real quandry here, with my reply
I can't decide between "Loud pipes save lives" or "If it's too loud, you're too old!".
So please pick the one which annoys you most.

There is an old adage that goes:
'The louder the pipes, the smaller the penis'
So, you have to feel sorry for those that need to compensate for their lack of man-hood with loud pipes.

I agree with that adage.
my bike's very quiet, and I think I'll now reverse its bafflectomy to make it sewing machine quiet.

With all due respect, be quiet.
Those weekend warriors have just as much right to their loud pipes as you do your quiet daily commuter bike.
I have the stock pipes on my Sprint and I plan on upgrading to very loud straight through Trident pipes, I have every right to do so.
I use my sprint for daily commute and don't see why you need to complain about those with aftermarket pipes, they function better and [i]can[/b] help you be noticed by those around you.
Maybe you should upgrade your stock pipes, it can reduce heat and increase performance.
Motorcycling has always been loud! From the first V-twin engines, pipes were never designed to be restricted and silenced, it was function over form - get that exhaust out as fast as possible.
Your complaints, while slightly warranted due to possible future legislation, are heard but not sympathized by me good sir.
Give me my pipes and make 'em loud! Don't tread on me!

Your favourite bike's a 180 Jota, & you don't like loud bikes?
I'm starting to think the Big Shagooney is a bit of a Joker.
Be honest now. Are you taking the pee? Or not?

3 years ago, I inherited straight Cobra pipes with my '03 Speedmaster... still can't decide if they are too loud or just right.
I just know they are not as loud as most Harleys.

Just to play devils advocate here, I think the only way loud pipes will save lives is if you mod yer bike to forward facing pipes!
As I recall there aren't too many instances of bikers being rammed from behind because the person ramming them didn't hear the bike
