I would think that if a 'new' company was going to come out with a new model for 2009, that they would come up with some technology beyond pushrods and external oil tanks.
Have they not heard of 'Unit Construction'?

A-ah, Oo-oohey, Minne Wakan Mnisose Le Mita Kola

Technologically, one of the most traveled original Indian's I've encountered was fitted with water jackets & radiator, eliminating thermal problems bereft of even new air cooled moto engines (supporting liquid coolings primordial oozed, strongest survived trait of outlasting most air cooled fallen dragons - street or track).

It's understood from fairly reliable sources that by the time Stellican acquired rights to the Indian marquee, most of the tooling had already been sold in the fire sale (BK). It appears the very Brit Stellican is making the same business error the prior Canadian incarnation of Indian made: gambling its stratospheric "price point" in the same league as more established, proven, even celebrity companies (HD, Confederate, OCC, WCC, etc.). Even the venerable "New" Triumph (through the insightful genius of Mr. Bloor's team effort) had the sense to list a soft price till the goods were proven to deliver (vs. asking an obscene price for all any one knows, a shoddily made upstart with no parts/ dealer/ support network). Stellicam, a huge concern, could learn a thing or two from Triumph's triumphant track recorded business model... With past breeding and looks like the Chief, if the last Indian nailed the price down to a palatable eleven thousand U.S. dollars (soon to be peso, or shells?), and the technological advance of say, "wakon-ya cooling" (Lakota: water is born) as an option (for those who actually traverse the globe on their sunke wakan (horse, or more accurately: SACRED DOG), maybe they'd still be be smoking the canupa (pipe)?

Hmmm, an American start up exploiting the Indian heritage moves to Canada eventually winding up in the UK?

A-AH, OO-OOHEY, MINNE WAKAN MNISOSE LE MITA KOLA (loose translation: watch out, it's time for a whiskey with muddy waters my friend)!

For what they're charging, you can have a custom with an S&S engine and imitation Indian fenders, saddle, etc... and still have a few grand left over.

The previous incarnation of Indian had lots of problems. At least 3 recalls on every model and the company went out of business before they had to recall the primary cases, which were junk. Kawasaki's old Vulcan Drifter, especially the 800, looked more like an Indian than the 1999 - 2003 Indians did. And that model would only have set you back $7,500.

I would wait and see if the Chris Craft version of Indian is reliable before plunking down $35,000 to $40,000.
