Spring Seat on a softail frame.....
Why not put the seat down on the frame rails where they belong & retain some "lines".
I had a springer years ago & loved all that chrome up front. Now they black the best part of the bike to look more "outlaw".
Once again Hardly Dangerous has been reactionary instead of revolutionary.
Come out with something new & quit playing catch up all the time.

They did -- it's called the V-Rod.

Went over like the proverbial lead balloon with the Harley buyers.

Hey -- they know what sells to their market demographic!

If the EPA gets its way then everything in the US will be watercooled & injected so they might as well get used to it.
I really like the Night Rod Special but alot of dealers dont carry them.
Almost bought a Screaming Eagle V-rod '05 but the saleman wouldn't be reasonable on the price. This was in '07 by the way. They couldn't sell it but still wanted premium price for it. and heres the kick inthe pants..... I worked for the HD shop selling the thing!
Life goes on!

Buying a liquid cooled engine design from Porshe is not coming up with something new. How is the V-rod new, aside from who makes it? The rest of the world moved to liquid cooling decades ago.

Granted, most other manufacturers would kill for the brand loyalty that HD lives off of, but I truly hope the day comes eventually when someone in the US successfully makes and sells a performance bike that can stand next to the rest of the world's sportbikes. I'm not holding my breath.

Another answer to a question no one asked?

... $17 grand, you gotta be kidding!

By the looks of the photo, it looks like you could go maybe a couple of miles before back-ache sets in.

..... why?

OK, if you're a fake Gay Pirate, then you can buy a fake pirate lookin' "chopper"? Now I get it!

Wait a minute.. are there "Real" gay pirates? Now I'm gettin' scared!

I started a thread about this bike a while ago. I love it. Get rid of the stupid floorboards and get some good looking pegs and straight pipes. I still won;t pay 17 grand for ANY bike, but....

I'd rather ride it and look like a pirate than ride a crotch rocket and look like a Power Ranger.

yeah well

dont mind the floorboards (I actually dig floorboards), can tolerate the mini-apes, love the springer. That said, rake the dang thing out 5 degrees and lose the stupid rear fender theyve been usin forever (that hasnt looked good on anything). The Fat Bob is a much cooler bike (hey, I wonder where they got the dual-headlight holligan bike idea from.. hmm..) and even that isnt worth the money. Ive ridden one HD... the flagship non-seller V-Rod. I can't for the life of me understand going through the trouble of developing a beautiful bad-### mofo of an engine with Porsche, only to drop it in a chassis so low I can scrape things on a straight road between the lines of one lane. Umm.... what?? I will own a Harley when a) I hit the lotto AND b) they build a bike for riders rather than posers. They came close with my brother-in-laws Dyna T-Sport... and then axed it. Typical. I'd like to get a Revo engine to drop in a project, though.
