...Bikers, last of the true men... Very funny thread.

I danno. I've been road riding since I was 15 - several decades ago now;

Bad looking life-style HD riders still scare me. Fancy Dan's in their one piece'ers on their Zippy-Zappy CarpMaster 2000's spook me now adays when they scream by me. Squeaky Boot Guy still makes me laugh when he walks by hunched over like the great ape at the dealer Demo Day. Muscle Shirt Sammy in his sneakers with is cutie in flip-flops perched aback high above, makes me shake my head. Happy Hard Head Harry roars by on his full dresser in his full leathers, boots and flapping strips waving in the breeze, but no helmet. Shimmy Shorts Sally, riding along in shorts and a T even when its 60 degrees out! Chopper Charlie vibrates the ear plugs outta my helmet when I'm sitting there at the light behind him. And Joy Jacking Jumpers - I've left a few group rides and gone my own way when I thought they were getting out of hand.

I don't know about yous guys, but as a "real man" I'm pretty picky about who I ride with, and who I let ride with me any more when I go on trips these days. What about you?

I'd just as soon meet somebody somewhere than try and ride with them. Unless you really know the other rider,it can leave you out very quickly.

I rarely go with other riders. I like to ride my own pace and that can be a constantly changing thing. I also like to stop and shoot pictures or jot a note or two about something I've just seen. And then I can be dragging pegs for awhile. I recognize how frustrating that can be for others. However, I love having my wife with me. No headsets, just the two of us absorbing the sights and smells in our own ways. When we stop, we like to talk about what each of us have seen and how we experienced it. It's fun to travel through the same experience but have totally different reactions and perceptions. The Existentialists called something similar the Philosophy of the Absurd I think. My two cents worth, anyway.

Well to each their own, but I've been seeing too much of the "shorts' and "deck shoe" riders. I got used to it with the sport bike motorheads, but then I started seeing Goldwing and Harley riders, and now I'm even seeing "dudes" on BMW's with shorts and flip flops.
Is nothing sacred. BMW hippies.
Or maybe "motorcycle slackers".

It is all well and good for some to say "whatever" to this, but every time cagers and others see someone behaving badly on a bike, or under-dressed like this, it sets us all back about 30 years. Behaviour such as this just provides more ammo for the fun police and lawmakers to slap new restrictions on ALL riders.

Liberal types roll their eyes, swish their wrists and say "They have a right to wear whatever they like, and ride however they like." But the rest of us pay big time in higher insurance premiums for costs of scraping their carcases off the street, more $$ for more forced safety gizmos on our new bikes, and having to put up with the inevitable remarks at family and social gatherings.
"Isn't riding dangerous and foolhardy?"
"Aren't you scared of crashing?"
"Did you read about the biker who...", and so on.

Refuse to associate with, or ride with these poser types, maybe they'll get the picture.

I'll ride with **** near anybody. As long as they don't bitch and moan about the pace or the noise. The pack I usually go with are a jacked up group of crotch rockets and Harleys, Goldwings and Guzzis. As long as no one endangers my chances of coming home to my wife...I say "Saddle up". The rowdier the better sometimes.
