crash report - adjuster and estimate

Got right up and walked, so nothing to cry about. A lot of oil had just been spilled after a curve, so this photo shows kitty litter put down by the fire department after the crashes. One car and two bikes left the road, all were single vehicle crashes thank goodness.

I landed in a pile of weeds at the bottom of the ditch, the Thruxton landed in a dead tree so got some bonus damage on the right side.

Some comments from the shop warned me this could result in a total loss.

I've read a lot of sad posts regarding insurance companies and claims gone bad. I wanted to be treated fairly, not have the bike totaled, and not have to micro manage the claim.

The adjuster called back quickly. He explained the process, gave me an accurate timeline, and communicated with me and the shop on a regular basis. The bike was initially considered a total loss, but the adjuster knowing my request worked with the shop and added value to my bike due to a suspension upgrade.

He sent a letter explaining my options on repair and parts, and let me know that any gear damaged in the crash would be covered. The adjuster left a check with the shop on Friday right on schedule. By Saturday parts were on order and I should be on the road late next week.

I couldn't be more pleased with how professional and informative the adjuster was, and how quickly my shop was to get the estimate turned in, and work with the adjuster to keep the bike from being a total loss.

No injuries and single vehicle helped streamline the process. But I've read cases just like mine that drag on for weeks, so some things that may have helped:

I had police and fire department indecent numbers, and photos of the scene and motorcycle ready to email. I had the other motorcyclists information as a witness to road conditions.

I called the shop to make sure the estimate could be done, then called again to make sure the estimate was sent to the adjuster.

I made sure the adjuster had my upgrades to help with the valuation of the Thruxton.

Probably the two major factors that got me through this were reputable/professional adjuster and shop. I hope if you have to go through this, things go as smoothly.

I'm Tore Down

Hey David
Now if you had that Red 675 too, you'd have a spare bike to ride.
The other night on the Hamburger Cruz Mark and Jeff and I were trying to figure out what road you were on.

Thanks guys.

I was on FM2222 between Mopac and L360, not too far east of the County Line BBQ.

I mentioned the D675 because I've really thought about buying one. When the adjuster told me the bike was totaled, I thought about it. I'd still love to have a triple one day, but sweatmachine has me thinking all kinds of crazy idea on the twin.

My policy is with Foremost Insurance, so huge props to them and Lone Star BMW/Triumph for removing most of the stress in this deal.

Sorry to hear of your off. Glad that you weren't hurt and that the "pain and suffering" is to a minimum.

Good luck on your next choice.

Pilots say "any landing you can walk away from is a good one." I guess for motorcycles it's "any dismount you can walk away from..."

I would add "Especially the unscheduled ones!"

Good to hear your insurance company is dealing from the top of the deck!

I'm glad you're okay; I hope the process continues to go smoothly for you! That third photo is a study in tragedy.
