It's Been a Rough Month for Auto Maintenance
Okay, so back in March, I was changing my differential oil in my 2003, Dodge Dakota. I found a few rather large chunks of metal in my differential but it was still working okay. After reading up on the Dodge forum, I discovered that the diffs on Dakotas and Durangos a failing common to the model. So, rather than replace it with another OEM diff that is liable to break again, I opted to put in a Detroit Tru-track Diff on the 19th of April.

On the 21st of April, I pushed in the clutch pedal and heard a snap, then a really loud squeeling. The truck has 120,000 miles, so I knew that a new clutch was in the cards but the timing couldn't be worse.

I could have done it myself but my back hasn't been treating me that well lately and I don't really have a lot of garage space.

About the same time, my bike started missing on one cylinder.

So, I took the bike into the shop and had it fixed (bad spark plug). I had it re-mapped and stuff while it was in there, too.

So, I just got my truck back from the shop today. Here's this month's total:

Bike: $536.92
Clutch: $1519.21
Diff: $1127

$3183.13

I need a hug...

Bummer!

(I was going to make some foolish remark about your huge tax windfall coming soon from President Bush, but thought better of it.)

So I'm guessing that the sportscar fund took a bit of a hit?
Bummer. I hope you've got all your mechanical bad karma sorted, for a while.

Yeah...

...that's okay though because the Caddilac CTS-V hasn't come out yet. That's worth a look.

Hey Fivehundo,

I hope to be in L.A. on my Tiger around June 11th or 12th to visit my daughter. What we say in New England is, it looks like you're just the next town over. How far is it for me if I were in the L.A. area to say hi?
