Denman, I didn't write the check, but if I had, I believe my old math instructor would dig through the archives just to raise my grade a notch.
In 1972, a regular customer where I worked forgot his checkbook. I shrugged it off and told him he could bring the money later. He wanted to settle up right then and there, and to the amusement of all argued that the bank would accept any account-holder's check, even if written on a napkin. He was so persuasive that my boss allowed it.
Yeah, the bank just laughed. His son happened to work with me, and was so embarrassed about his father's stunt that he settled the bill himself, even at the risk of perpetuating his father's misconceptions.
