Cheapest way?

Any pointers on getting a bike from CA to FL cheapest way? Time is no object. I don't possess a pickup or trailer to do it myself, and with motels etc doubt this is the cheapest way anymore.

I just had a bike shipped from Detroit to Charleston, SC, and it ran me $400. I used USHIP.com, which let me setup a profile, list the details of my move needs, a few photos of the bike, and the ability to communicate with company's bidding on my move. To sign up and list your bike move needs is free. My first word of caution: be careful and read a shipper's feedback after they bid on your move. A lot of regular moving company's bid on a bike to round out a load. They're not bikers, and they outsource their bids to less than professional handlers. On the opposite side, there are a lot of people out there who do this kind of stuff for a living. Just make sure they're insured and know how to treat a motorcycle, and you'll be fine.
Good Luck!!

I shipped a Gixxer 1000 from Massachusetts to Arkansas a few years ago with ForwardAir (forwardair.com). The price was reasonable (sub-$500), but with gas prices this could be higher now. The bike came in a sealed container and was strapped down with 6 built-in floor hooks. The shipper put his own padlocks on the crate and gave me the combos; that way the bike doesn't get tampered with once it's sealed up. You can also track the bike every step of the way. Hope this helps!

I used www.idtransport.com to ship a TBS from Long Beach, CA to Atlanta, GA. Cost me $750 and took 2 weeks. Came in on a dedicated enclosed trailer and was unharmed. I looked around and nearly every shipping company was +/- $50 of them. Ive also heard good things of www.forwardair.com. Lastly, check the AMA website for others they recommend. Here are some others, but I dont have experience with any of them...just a place to start.
