Nice Triumph!

I borrowed on my wife's Street Twin this morning to run up to the convenience store. I had four people tell me "Nice Triumph" with big friendly smiles on their faces. It was like just seeing the motorcycle made their day. When I ride my Victory to the store no one speaks to me, no one even makes eye contact. It's almost like they're afraid. It always amazes me how positively people react to Triumph.

When I worked at the local shop years ago that sold them, the same thing happened to me when I rode triumph's. We also sold bmw's and I never even got a second look, but the triumph's always got a smile, look or kind comment.

The admiration that i get for my and my wife's Thruxton is amazing. It is not the reason that i ride a Triumph but it is nice when someone appreciates your toys.

I like the attention but sometimes it leads to a story about the Triumph they had back in the 1970s. I used to race my brother. He drove a Corvette.............. And it goes on and on and on.

Nice to be appreciated though.

It's always interesting to hear what somebody else has to say when they see a Triumph.
So many people are surprised to hear that the company came back under different ownership.

The one time I went all the way to saigon with my T120, I couldn't resist popping at dusk at a good friend's hangout. In the hour I had parked the Bonnie in front of his place, it gathered many a lustful look and admiring remark. Mostly if not only from westerners.

Nice Triumph. Thank you, I like it. What year is it? Probably not as old as you think, it's an 08. And then the trip down memory lane starts. Although sometime young guys will comment who don't even know what a Triumph is, especially when I'm on the Thruxton.

And here's me thinking that it only happens to me. My wife calls it the codgers bike because they all come out of the woodwork to admire and reminisce.

Now that I think of it, my first encounter with a Hinckley T was in Corsica, while buying bread (very French) a few years ago, a senior geezer on a bright red air-cooled Thruxton came by and I was the one to strike the conversation.

It works!
