Too much Bling, for a motorbike.

A friend just returned from Sydney, where he snapped this bike, drawing a crowd along the Manly Beach foreshore.
Believe it or not, this started out as an R1 Yamaha!

& why anybody would want to do this to one, is beyond my comprehension.

Look at the size of that tyre! Imagine what a pig it'd be in a corner.
There's got to be an additional 20kgs of chrome on the thing. & there's even a CD player built into the tank, with the speakers built into fairing.
What a way to waste a 100 grand (or more).
Mind you, my mate said that it had a crowd around it, 6 deep. So if the guy just wanted to be noticed (why else would you do it?) I guess he got his money's worth.
Flame away.

I saw an article in the pommy 'Two' bike mag about this last month. It`s a big cult bike scene in the USA, for people who want a custom sportsbikes but aren`t very good at riding around bends very quickly, so they put a huge great rear tyre and an extended swingarm on a Busa, Gixxer or R1, or some such tackle. Then they cover it in bling and add a custom paintjob. These bikes are popular with RAP artists and 'gangstas' and and the bikes are called fatsos or tubbies or something along those lines.

We all know NSFW means 'not safe for work.' This needs a NSFGT* or NSFRM** tag. Chrome on sportbikes is just wrong. Polished aluminum, sure, but not chrome.

Hate to tell you guys...but you sound like those old geezers who said....'Human beans ain't meant to fly'....or....'They call that MUSIC'. I agree with you all....I wouldn't do that....but the laugh that comes out of me when I see something totally new (usually only to me) tends to be one of laughing w/ the creator rather than at him. Now, when it's done for the millionth time....you have my full 'permission' to laugh AT them....as in visiting Sturgis and seeing thousands of rubber stamped Harley clones w/ big rear tires, no rear fender clearance, and often no rear shocks. I fully understand what they are doing.....it's not bling added to the bike...the bike IS the bling.

Wadda you mean by "drawing a crowd"? Was it like a lynching posse out to get the evil perpetrator?
