Victory Motorcycles halting production

Wow! I always liked the looks of the Highball and even considered purchasing one a few years ago. Heard positives about the Cross Country as well. I hate to see an American manufacturer fail but I guess the market has spoken.

And speaking of markets, who is buying the Slingshot? I never have understood it's appeal except maybe as an alternative to a trike. Personally, I'd just buy a really nice Jeep Wrangler before a Slingshot.

I'm not surprised. They were sort of a one hit wonder. My best friend bought an Eight Ball and I had the misfortune of riding it a few times. I never knew a motorcycle could steer that badly. Seriously.

But they looked good and I can see why people bought them. Well the one Arlin Ness design looked good. Then they just never seemed to update with new models. It always seemed like the same Ness design slightly tweaked or modified.

I never liked the Slingshot either.

I never rode a High Ball but I thought the mini-apes and matte paint were a great look. I think the recent Octane disappointed a lot of enthusiasts.

I, for one, really liked the looks of the Victory line and am disappointed this American cruiser alternative will go away. I am not ready to give up my Triumphs but if I did want to get back on an American V-Twin again I would have preferred a Victory. I thought The Judge was really cool!

It looks like Polaris will put all their eggs in the Indian basket. From my viewpoint there's much bigger demand for the Indian brand.

I have always felt they were overpriced. If they cannot compete, they gotta go !...J.D.

The Judge and Eight-Ball and stuff like that were cool. But the faired baggers, yeck. Always reminded me of Power Rangers, but with an ugly arse. Kinda like these, but different

They were a nice alternative for American-made cruisers, but makes sense to me that they are going to roll Victory into the Indian brand.

I have a friend who's no spring chicken.
He spent many years racing motorcycles including being a somewhat formidable flat tracker.
He's kept a couple of bikes but has had a resurgence when his wife surprised him with the purchase of a Slingshot.
He LOVES the trike and it's given him a new lease on his motorcycling life. The two of them are putting a good number of miles on the machine. And they definitely like the side by side seating.
Worth considering if two wheels starts to become more challenging and you still like the bugs in your teeth.
