I guess I was born just late enough to just miss the original Star Wars toys and movies when I was a kid. To think that was made in the late 70's, must have been like nothing anyone had ever watched before back then. What an iconic movie, and what an iconic character she played. It's very sad to learn she passed. Sad days.

One of my young man crushes. I look at the clips now, and she looks like a kid in that movie. Back in 1976, I was only 23 years old, thought she was some very hot chic. Man crush at the time.

She lived a life never having to be concern about money. Born into it with the family connection.

Yeah, this is how I will always remember Carrie fisher.

Perhaps so, but her life was still harsh in other ways, bipolar disorder and the usual struggle with drugs and alcohol, her husband leaving her for another guy?? She was actually a very tough lass.

She seemed to be someone who thoroughly couldn't give a crap about what others thought of her, .
It probably depended on her emotional state on which day. Bipolar is a challenging mental health problem..

Very sad about Debbie Reynolds too.

The son lost his mother and sister within a couple days. Gheeeez.

I'll pray for them all today.

Pray also for Carrie's 24 year old daughter. She lost her Mother & Grandmother.

Had the privilege of seeing Debbie Reynolds a couple of years ago. She introduced herself something to the effect .... "To the younger members of the audience I am Princess Leia's mother..."

Yep, Debbie Reynolds died the next day, she collapsed when she heard the news and her last words in the hospital were that she missed Carrie and she was going to be with her.So damn sad. They were both talented, even if Carrie was a little crazy. She was said to have relapsed into drinking and drugs as she was touring for her book. I can't wait to see her in the next Star Wars.

Below is her audition for the part of Leia and she obviously was a very talented actress.

below is an excerpt from an article in The Daily Beast

There’s also the rumor that she and co-star Harrison Ford partied with the Monty Python troupe and the Rolling Stones while filming The Empire Strikes Back. The very mention of this causes Fisher to smile widely.“Yes, that one’s true,” she says. “I was renting Eric Idle’s house for five months, and he was doing Monty Python down in Tunisia, and they had a drink that they would give to the extras to make them more ‘compliant.’ And they called it ‘The Tunisian Death Drink.’”

“We had an early call, and Eric called down and said, ‘The Rolling Stones are here!’ and I came down and it was all of them,” she continues. “I called Harrison and said, ‘Get over here! This is ridiculous!’ I wonder how he remembers it. I remember that we never went to sleep, so we weren’t hungover—we were still drunk when we arrived in Cloud City the next day. We don’t really smile a lot in the movie, but there we’re smiling.”
Apparently, Fisher had a really good time while filming Empire—which she says is her favorite Star Wars film by a mile. And she’s made no secret of her past drug use, even going so far as to dispel a rumor via Twitter that she had a “coke nail” while shooting Return of the Jedi.
When I ask her if she went through “a difficult time” while shooting Empire, alluding to her well-publicized battle with drugs, she chuckles. “Actually, no, I didn’t go through a difficult time! I said I did blow a couple of times. That’s not a difficult time!”
She pauses. “Oh god, that will be fun for Disney! It’s a billion years ago, and if I could tell you the truth, you would laugh so hard. And… I can’t. But it was location. Location means everything is permitted. I went without being needed to Norway [on Empire]—that’s how much fun I was having. I was upset that I didn’t get to go to Tunisia for the first one. But I had a good time on the movies.”

On some levels, I have a hard time feeling that sorry for the remaining family. Yes, they lost two people in short order, but the mom was 60, and had a history of drug abuse. The grandmother was 84, and had lived a long and full life. It's not as though their lives were unexpectedly cut short, and I seriously doubt their survivors will be worrying about making ends meet, due to losing the breadwinners.

There are construction workers, police officers, military personnel, and a whole host of other people who are supporting a family and scraping by on their single incomes, and getting killed every day. Even though I almost never hear of their passing, those are the survivors who receive my sympathy.
