I'm coming to you today from the world's newest island, the City of Cairns.
The rain eased off around lunch time, so I took the Street out for a look-see.
The first thing I noticed was that there were fresh potholes all over the roads. & I was really having to check my lines, as there are new hazards everywhere.
So it was a bit of a slalom course along the hwy south. But I only got 20klms anyway, before I got turned back by the flooded Mulgrave River. I tried to get up the Gillies Range, but couldn't get within 5klms of it. So I headed back north, to see if the Kuranda Range was open, but couldn't make it to the nthn suburbs, as Freshwater Creek & the Baron River have combined forces, & nothing's getting across them now (The Cops lost a 4X4 down there, that they think might be out on the reef by now).
So I used to live on the world's biggest island, but now I'm on one of it's smallest. Though fortunately it's also one of it's shortest lived, & we should be back in terrestial contact with the rest of the nation by morning (if the rain stays away).
This is now officially the biggest Wet for almost 20yrs. & if it keeps it up, could easily become our biggest ever. So these are quite historic times, & I'm glad that I'm here to see them (I'd just like to get more riding in

)
On a happier note. My mechanic's back from jury duty, & the SuperScram rebuild is happening right now. So hopefully there'll be sounbites & vids by the weekend
