Triumph in World Supersport

Triumph put up a great display in the World Supersport race at the weekend, especially Gary McCoy who came in 6th and was pushing the top 3 all the way. Great publicity for Triumph and even better for me as my wife rides a Suzuki and none of them finished above McCoy!!! I wonder when that last happened in a top flight race?

Nice one!

Thanks for the post Digger.

Did you get to see the race?
I am just wondering if McCoy still gets around the track sideways

His exploits on the DVD "Faster" are spectacular.

Yeah Digger, I reckon it was a good early effort. Hopefully there is better to come.

World Supersport is covered on Eurosport with WSB so there will be a round in the states on June 1st. 675 was struggling a bit with top end speed on the straights but good on the bends, McCoy still spins the rear as well. Hopefully Triumph will catch up as the season progresses.

I could be wrong but the Supersports don't travel with WSB to the USA. At least they didn't a few years ago.

After 2 races, Triumph is ahead of both Kawasaki and Suzuki in the Manufacturer's point standings.....LOL!! Pretty **** good for a first year effort and from what I heard, they didn't get the teams together until late 07 so there's still lots of room for improvement.

The amazing thing was McCoy came from 17th on the grid to get up with the top 4. I think if he hadn't had to work so hard to get up there the 675 would have had something for the leaders. He trashed his tires pushing so hard to get from the back of the grid. What a great ride. It won't be long before Atchison joins McCoy. Podiums are not far away.

Good observation and I hope so too! I'm not sure about an earlier comment re: top speed. Over the PA at the island, the commentators were amazed, McCoy was getting 284kph done the main straight. They also loved the hook up and how he got the power down out of corners. I think Gary needs to learn to conserve his tyres and get better at qualifying (easy to say from an arm chair I know ) And then we'll see some great points racing.

For the aussies, 5 aussie riders in World Supersport on at least 3 brands is going to make for an interesting year
