Thread Removed
I mentioned an accident from another forum and it was removed. That is OK.
The point was not the accident, that riding in and around San Francisco area is dangerous with all the car clubs and Drifters. That the RAT clubs are going to have to slow down and be more careful on their rides in the local hills.
This was the only point that I was trying to make bringing this accident info to this forum.

I cannot answer that authoritatively, having not seen the thread myself, but one possibility is that it contained too graphic or too morbid a depiction of the accident, or it contained a solicitation of some sort. Such things are prohibited in the Acceptable Use Policy.
Also, it may simply have been redundant. We all know motorcycles can be involved in accidents. If it doesn't involve somebody you know personally, or unless there's something else unique or compelling about the story, it would be just another gratuitous posting of a news link...and who needs a forum titled "I heard about another accident," eh.
Questions about a moderator's decision should be addressed to them directly in a PM. Discussion of site policies happens in the Site Happenings forum.

I am a pilot and our forums discuss and have postings about accidents all of the time. Part of the time it is to laugh at the poor news people who don't know what they are talking about. Most of the time it is to try to learn something so that we don't end up dead in our own planes. In many regards, morbid and gross is good, if it makes the pilot or rider more careful.

There was an accident between a car and a scooter on one of our lovely twisty roads in the nearby hills. Each was with their own club group for a Sunday ride.
Stated by the Police that that car was driving above the speed limit and lost control.
So, we have to be more cautious then ever when we are out for a nice ride.

Unless the moderator PMs you when the thread is deleted, how would you know which moderator to ask?

I've been riding twisty mountain roads, flat out, for 35 yrs. In that time I've had countless near-misses with trucks, tourists, & other range-runners. It comes with the territory. & if you don't like it. Don't ride quickly in the twisties.
I don't feel the need to hear about others misfortune. I know the risks, known about them for 35 years. They haven't changed.
BTW The biggest risk around here, by far, are tourists in rental cars (many from OS who aren't used to driving on the left). They'll stop in the middle of the road, on a blind bend, to admire the view.
& I haven't hit one yet.
PS I've heard of new research from Mercedes Benz (which most govt's are trying to ignore) that says that fast drivers are safer than slow ones, because they're concentrating harder on their driving. I know that my quick reactions have saved me from many dangerous situations. So the answer is not slowing down, it's staying alert.

That's impossible as the moderators for the most part operate anonymously.

I had a PM and this is not the first one, so I understand the reason why it was removed.
The two forums that where involved got hot and heavy in finger pointing and other things. One of them shut down registration so no more cross forum replies could happen.
The young man involved apparently did not even get out of his car to help.
