Maybe New Triumph Trophy for 2009??
My local dealer told me Triumph is coming out with 5 NEW models for 2009 and will introduce them this October.
I was asking him about the TROPHY and why Triumph discontinued it.
I asked him if a new TROPHY was in the works and what the other new bikes were, he said he didn't know and that he sees them on the internet before Triumph tells him!!
Triumph left that segment of the market when they discontinued the TROPHY in 2002, I hope they bring back something like it!

I was always intrigued by the Trophy, but apparently I was in a small minority. An executive tourer is not a bike that seems to be well understood or appreciated on this side of the Atlantic.
Of course, part of that problem could be that all Hinckley Triumphs were still largely unknown quantities when the Trophy first came out. If Triumph were to bring out a new model for that niche now (and, alas, there are no plausible media rumors of such at this point) I wonder what they might do differently. About the only thing anybody can say about it for certain is that it would not be a four cylinder this time.

Wouldn't that be great!!! I hope he's right! I'd like to add another Triumph some time around '09 or '10. I'm just not crazy about any of Triumph's current models, other than the modern classics. I really liked the TBS and the Tropy... both of which have been discontinued. I wish they'd bring back at least one of 'em.
In' 06 I almost purchased a leftover '03 TBS. I really wanted it, but decided against buying a model that had already been discontinued. I went with a T100 Bonnie instead. It's loads of fun, so I plan on keeping as long as possible. However, I'd love to add something along the lines of a Trophy for longer trips.

I really enjoy the development and evolution of models that Triumph does. With the Ricket Touring, Sprint ST and Tiger being such focused bikes, it's hard to say what will have to leave the range to accomodate the Trophy.

I'd like to see another 4 cyl Trophy. & a Daytona as well.
If they added another pot to the 1050 motor. That'd take it out to around 1400, which would make it a real 'Busa beater

I think Triumph has been pretty clear lately in corporate interviews that they'll be sticking with twins & triples moving forward. I just don't see any 4 cylinder machines in their future.
But I'd be psyched if they rolled out 5 new models next year.

I look forward to each year's news because i think triumph's vision in how they design the bikes is far closer to my liking than any other brand. And the anticipation now is just killing me. I just hope thing don't change for the worse like the plastic badges they're starting to use. I fear that with more and more models coming from other factories that they may be cheapening the line and forthcoming models may little by little get whittled down till they are no longer at the quality level we expect from triumph. So far they still look good, but i can see it looking like this scenario may be coming eventually. I sure hope i'm wrong, and i'm dying to see whats in store for '09 in any case.

Hey Scratch-I'd like to see the bikes but I'm not a Triumph 4 cylinder fan. But if that's how they built them, that'd be fine by me. Whatever it takes to get a dedicated Touring bike.
