Dad can I borrow the keys to Dakar?

South America anyone?
The Dakar is going to be Argentina and Chile in 2009.

Cool. I postponed a trip to Chile this year. This would be a good reason to pick that one back up.

Very exciting.
I am glad threats didn't hold the organizers back.
Cheers to them and their competitive streak delivering defeat to the spoilers in Africa! Hopefully it can eventually return to the home course again.

Great news! I think the venue will out class the original Dakar what with the all the differences in terrain and elevation. Cool!

That is great news. Holding the event anywhere is better than just caving in.
As for it outclassing the orignal, ... well, that would be more than a bit of a stretch.

Kind of like like holding the Mille Miglia in Montana. It might be good but it won't be quite the same.

Even the camelids will be different.

Dakar 2009

My guess was they would have picked Australia - anyway, it's great that it will continue on.

Is it appropriate to still call it the Dakar? or should it be renamed?

Why not? they call it the Paris-Dakar, though it no longer starts in Paris. Plus it smacks those terrorists in the mouth to know they can't keep the world's greatest race down.
