So what's the SP on the Superbowl
I know very little about Grid Iron, but usually catch the Superbowl every year. Even though I have to spend the first half of the game remembering the rules.
I usually know at least one of the teams, well enough to pick one to barrack for. But this year I've no idea of the form of these two teams.
So what do those who know more than me, think of the current two teams?
& if I was silly enough to put real $'s on the game.
Where's the smart money going?
& please keep the vitriol low, if they're not your teams.
I'd rather that this thread doesn't get closed too soon. (until I have an answer at least)

I like any team who plays against the Giants. But I have a gut feeling that this will be a good game (not the "blow outs" that have happened in the past). I'm not even betting a beer this year.

Well, the New England Patriots have yet to lose a game this year, so if you're just going to put money on a winner, that's probably the way I would go. They have an unbelievable offense, with the best quarterback in the game, and the best wide receiver. They've set the all time scoring record, the most touchdowns by a qb, and the most tds by a receiver.
I don't think, however, that this game is going to be a 12 point game, which I believe is what the prediction still is. The Giants have a good defense, if they can get pressure on the qb. If their offense continues to produce like it has in the last few games then they have a chance at winning this one.
I'm for the Giants here, but thats more a personal thing. Brandon Jacobs, the running back for the Giants, played at the college I went to while I was there. It'd be nice to see someone from a small school get a ring.
Enjoy the game!

In football, any team can win on any given day. That's why they are professionals....
BUT...
With all that being said, the New England Patriots will beat the New York Giants. The Patriots have already beaten the Giants this year and also have Super Bowl experience as this will be their 4th time since 2001 and their post season record speaks for itself. They have the best record breaking quarterback in Tom Brady. They have the best record breaking receiver in Randy Moss. The running game is awesome with Maroney and Welker. And not to mention that the "rest of the team ain't half bad either!"
Nobody prepares a team like Bellichek and the Giants will have more than their hands full. Eli Manning will be flustered.
Patriots - 34
Giants - 14

It was also a huge upset when the Rams lost to the Pats in 2001. It can happen. The Giants can run the ball against that aging Patriots defense. They control the clock and they have a chance. All that being said, I will stand by my previous statement that the Pats will win, but I don't think its going to be a 20 point game.
And Welker is a receiver, I don't think he's going to be taking handoffs to help the run game.

I guess the advertising will be notable (it usually is) but as for the game... : Being in New York it's difficult to ignore... so many Superbowl parties to choose from! Not for me I'm afraid... it oh so ridiculously hyped... when did the sport stop and the multi-million dollar franchises begin? Sportsmen! ... don't get me started.
Now... when are you going to start showing some cricket? :
... just thought I'd throw in a little negativity before you sports fans start getting too excited :

Championship weekend. In my opinion, the AFC & NFC championship games are usually the best games of the year. This could be a good super bowl, but with all the extra tv timeouts and long halftimes it's got to be a tough one to play.

NY Football Giants!
You all knew this was coming! It was just a matter of time before I found this thread!

Actually, their offensive line is not so great and neither is their running game. True - Brady can throw the ball and he has a lot of viable targets but the Giant Defense is a Monster when motivated and they have been dominating team after team week after week! My NY Football Giants Defense will punish Brady if given a chance, once that begins to happen watch the frustration of the Patriots set in and the penalties begin to fly! Keep your eyes on the punishment dealt out from my main 4 hit-men Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora, Antonio Pierce and Justin Tuck who fuel the NFL's fiercest pass rush and are the key to knocking the league's Most Valuable Player Tom Brady off his sore right ankle in Sunday's Super Bowl!

Fiction! First of all the last time these 2 teams played the score was 38-35 New England. As quoted by many of the Patriots team members it was the toughest game they played all season! Let’s remember something here. That game was meaningless to both teams; NE was already clinched for their Playoff position and the Giants already scored their wild-card spot! Neither team had to risk injury. The NY Football Giants came out and played every starter on their team as if it was the Super Bowl. New England was in shock.
Tom Brady is a great QB and he has a great arm and many great targets to pick from but that is where it ends! If the Giants shut down the passing then it is over! The New England running game is far from awesome - Maroney is just not that good and Welker, by the way is not a running back he is a wide receiver so your a little confused here. As far as the Giants go, there running game is Awesome and between Jacobs, 6-foot-4, 264 pounds of muscle and Bradshaw and Droughns the Pats will be a little confused. As far as passing targets, I wouldn't for one second count out Burress, Toomer, and our Moss not to forget to mention one of the most outstanding surprises of the year Kevin Boss! Don't worry about Eli "awe shucks" Manning, he has improved and matured 10 fold in the last 3 games! He might just show some of that legendary Manning lineage come Sunday - we'll see!
Giants - 31
Patriots - 24
Patriots 18-0 season becomes meaningless because they lost the Super Bowl and the Giants go down in NFL History as the ones who stopped this opportunity to make this never before done achievement! This will sorta be like NY revenge - when Boston Red Sox came back being 3 down in the World Series and winning the next 4 straight to take it all!
12 point spread is a lock if you take the Giants, if you were really on top of this situation and grabbed the 14 point Vegas spread right after the Green Bay game, before they rolled it back down from over betting, then you have Free Money coming your way!
The Hedge has spoken!

Come on Hedge, you've got to give me some credit for the second half of my post you quoted. I feel like I've been misquoted on media day to give bulletin board material to the other team. I am also looking for a Giants win! They are the second team I would prefer to watch in the Super Bowl. Second only to the Vikings. I would, at some point, like to see Randy get his ring, but the time isn't now.
