2 Penalty strokes ?
A croc has taken refuge in a water hazard at a Queensland golf course. It is not considered dangerous to humans but golfers are advised to take extreme precautions.

Kinda reminds me of quite a few years ago here in the Dallas area during an Iron man competition. Seems that we have an 8 plus foot alligator that appears and disappears for weeks at times in one of the lakes they were supposed to be using for the swimming portion of the competition.
If I remember correctly quite a few competitors dropped out of the race and to my knowledge the gator has yet to be caught.

Gators are a common site on golf courses in the Mississippi Delta area. I was playing a round on St Andrews (Ocean Springs, MS, not Scotland) when I hit my ball over a rise and out of site. There was a sharp drop after the rise and I couldn't see the ball until I was about 9 feet away from the 8 foot gator that it nestled up against. Needless to say, I was granted a "Non-penalized, unplayable lie" and took a drop along the path the ball traveled, no closer to the hole.
That was the biggest gator I had ever seen on a course down there. They are all over the place, but usually don't get much bigger than 3 - 4 feet (Not even big enough for boots....)

I hereby name the path to the 14th hole as the Crocodile Walk.

This kind of play seperates those who play golf from those who live golf
Happy Gilmore would have found a way to play it where it lay. Shame on you
I am not a golfer only a hacker on occasion so I can heckle
When there used to be a Navy base in Orlando there was an alligator that had taken up permanant resisdence, but he certainly wasn't 8 feet long. I would say 5 tops.

The rules of golf provide specific guidance in cases such as these- a free drop, no nearer the hole, in an area that provides adequate safety. Fairly common actually, especially in the south where fire ants can be prevalent.
Yet another reason to play golf in Scotland, where the only situation such as this regards a ball coming to rest in a sheep pat!

It's only a Freshie (Johnstone River Croc), & a juvenile to boot.
They're not dangerous (unless you stick your hand in their mouth) & most Queenslanders would still swim with one (I have).
This one will still get moved. Just to keep the Golfer's happy.
But I hope they have more success than Cairns City Council, which has been trying to remove a Freshie from the lakes in the Botanical Gardens, for the past 2 yrs.
