It is cold tonight.
Just stepped out on the deck for a smoke.
Latest reading: -20 (F), wind 20mph, equates to a windchill temp of -42(F). -29 (C) windchill, I don't know, -50 or so (C)?
Brisk, perky, cold enough that you can feel it in your eye sockets.
Global warming my arse.
This too shall pass, I know, but the natural gas meter is rotating like a Whirling Dervish!

The weather change here in Eastern Iowa today has been outrageous. It was 43 this morning with no wind, I almost went out on my bicycle for some exercise. Currently it's 3F, with windchill of -21F. Supposed to get to -4F tonight with wind gusts approaching 50mph. Glad that the fuel for the furnace is included in my lease.

Sorry to hear it's so chilly Scott.
We have just 30° today, but of course that's Celsius . Although we may perhaps get a thunderstorm later, as is the norm on these balmy Sydney days.
Sorry, couldn't resist a bit of a rub
Mick

The very first winter I lived in Wisconsin (1978) the air temp one January day got to -50. I've seen that 4-5 times since I've lived here. Those of us north kinda consider the Twin Cities as being in the banana belt. And Thursday the cold-cold is outta here and Friday the motorcycle show starts in your home town.

TBA, the coldest weather I've ever felt (and I've lived in Alaska) was in Minneapolis. It was minus some umpteen number. I had a 2-hour layover from London on my way to Seattle. I went outside to see what the big deal was. At first I thought, what's the problem? And then it stabbed through my flimsy coat like nails. Enough of this, it's off to the airport cocktail lounge. They had to de-ice our plane 3 times just to get us off the ground. On the way to Seattle, all the oxygen masks fell, and the flight attendants looked at each other like it was the end of their days. I felt no change in cabin pressure so I didn't even put mine on. Turns out it was a sensor malfunction.

TBA,
I was just complaining about the 2 degree weather I was in a few minutes ago. I defer to your numbers with the utmost appreciation for your survival skills.

I actually chuckled reading your entry - must tell you I could see and feel the chill thanks to your beautifully crafted prose. There was also this impression of you sitting there watching the masks dropping as if to say...what the f!!!?
And then taking another sip of your beverage.

Not to play the one-upsmanship game, but used to regularly work outside in -25/30, with windchill off the charts, back in my ski patroling days... Didn't like it then, like it even less now...
