Bike shipping companies...ideas?

One option I am exploring for Bennington, is to have my bike shipped out, maybe one way, and ride it back, or maybe both ways.
Any suggestions of good companies, as there seems to be a number of providers on the web.
Thanks.

I didn't expect that as the FIRST response; but considering the source...

Just wanted to get in early so you weren't kept in anticipation.

Daily Direct is probably not the cheapest option, but they pick-up and deliver your bike door-to-door. No pallets, crates or such hassle is required and they use fully enclosed trailers. I used them several times a few years back. They were a very professional outfit at the time, and they handled some really nice bikes... http://www.haulbikes.com/

+1 with Bob, aren't you already 1/2way across the country where you're at?

That'd make it less than 1500m each way. A day and a 1/2 doddle Tba :-)

Seriously, plan a road trip route - you are retired now.

Thanks road dog, I'll check them out.
Yea, I know rus, and I'm noodling that as an option, certainly. But I've not done a trip of that length, and (bring out your teeny violins and derisive comments) I'm going to be in Scotland for 10 days in early May, and I have some time/financial/other obligations constraints. IF my day trading goes really well in the next few weeks I can give stronger consideration to making Bennington a long round trip on all the back roads of the USA and Canada. It would be a good thing, I know.

Hey TBA we're only taking the pi$$. :-)

A 3000m+ trip is a reasonably large undertaking. If you can swing it great, if not at least you're going in a way you can still ride some of it etc. 1 way would be a good start. If you did it on the way there and it went great - well you may even want to do it as a return ride. As folks in your game some - it's all about options

Pi$$ gladly taken and well deserved!
Another consideration is whether or not I will be hosting Mellow and or Whisper if they come through Minneapolis. I'll need time to stock the fridge, lay out the good tea service, and warn the neighbors.
