Hello out there....
so, I don't have anything interesting to say. No news flash to provide or joke or funny video...Just felt the need to see how everyone out there in the motorcycle world is doing..
Ok, so I woke up to a world covered in the clouds. El Paso doesn't see fog very often and it is kind of cool. It's 39 degrees outside, not too cold. It's supposed to be up to 57 today with a 30 percent chance of showers. Don't have a lot of seat time yet, so not sure if I want to tackle wet streets until I know I am good on the dry ones.
so, looks like I'll be staying indoors today. I think it will be a lazy day...I'll just be a couch potato..I think we are all entitled to these type of days!!! Who knows, maybe I'll curl up to a good book!
I hope you guys all have a great day and a wonderful weekend. For those of you that are out riding, ride safe..

Just to reassure you Britishsteele, you're not the only one who feels like that. I have very little knowledge of the mechanics of bikes, and don't usually have anything particularly clever, informed or funny to say. I am also a bit shy and find it hard sometimes to open up and share stuff.
However, I do like the friendliness, the humour, the kind advice, rich tapestry of personalities and the general feeling of togetherness that I sense, after about 18 months of being here, on and off.
I like to think that we can all learn something from everybody, and sooner or later, the likes of me will have something valuable to say about something (!!) and I'm sure that you will too.
Hello and greetings from the UK anyway.
Phil

Hey there. You know, the only way to get wet experience is by riding in the rain. Although it's best if you have a nearby parking lot you can just ride around in in safety and practice light to progressively hard breaking. But it's also a good idea to do that in dry weather as well. That's the best way to learn your braking abilities on your bike for when you really need it.

I have to agree with you on that one. I don't think it'll do either Sounds like hot cocoa and a good book it is

Hey BS, wait, let me rephrase that. Hey Britishsteele, you have hit upon the mood of many here. I can't tell you how often I have the same thoughts. I rarely have anything important to say, and almost never have anything positive to contribute to a "bike" conversation. But that certainly hasn't stopped me from posting.
It's just comforting to know this bunch exists and that I can come here anytime and get a "fix" for the day.
Thanks for your thoughts and let us know what good book you end up with. Have a great day.
PS I love the pictures of you and your bike. I especially like the picture that you call a bad hair day. It has that far-away, longing for a ride, look about it.
PPS And Phil, where have you been? Step forward more often!

Britishsteele, I disagree that you don't have anything interesting to say. It's all interesting - the weather in El Paso, the fact of your rain-riding experience, etc. But more importantly, that you checked in and just said hello. Made my day. Enjoy your leisurely day today!
Whisper, I gave her a hard time about the bad hair day photo earlier because I thought it was a great pic that captured a part of the motorcycling experience. No bad hair days, Britishsteele!

Hi Whispernismith...Looks like this is our spot!! I love working on bikes and wrenching is my hobby and stress relief, but, I am no match for those that have been doing it much, much longer!!!
This could be where we just check in and talk about life...nothing important in general, but to touch base with those other that ride..LOL!!!
I decided I am going to finish "Ted Simon's, Jupiter's Travels". It's about a gent who rode around the world in the '70s on his Triumph Tiger 100. It is a fascinating book!!! Really inspiring!!
As for the picture..I was really bummed. My hubby caught me pouting. We were out riding and it was just too cold. I had started to get frostbite on my hands and was grumpy. I didn't want to head back, but new I had to!!! I'm just a bit to stubborn sometimes!!!

I'll tell you what, that picture is a keeper. Not to get weird, but I'm one of those who is fascinated by facial expressions. That had a lovely forlorn look about it that makes the viewer wonder what is happening in that person's life at that moment. Neat picture.
And I just finished both of Ted Simon's Jupiter books. Great stuff. Scott, (tba-golfer) just finished "Riding with Rilke", which coincidently I had just bought, and he recommends it highly. Mistermellow is also a fan of Ted Simon as are many here.
I can't wait to finish the book I'm into now in order to get to "Riding with Rilke". As for this being the place where we, I, check in and talk about life, that is an understatement when it comes to me. This is my salvation. Great people here.
