Casey Stoner Young Australian of the Year

What a country Australia's become lately. We've got rock stars as govt ministers. & now a biker makes Young Australian of the Year.
Part of me (most of me) is stoked, & thinks that Casey thoroughly deserves the accolade.
Winning the GP World Championship in his rookie year, was definitely pretty special. & created a great outpouring of national pride.
But it's hardly a cure for cancer.
Is it?

Oh well I'm not complaining.
It's promoting motorcycling in a positive light to the general public.
& that's gotta be a good thing.

I hope all Aussies everywhere, have a Happy Australia Day.

(& dont forget Triple J's Hottest 100)

+1 scratch...while i will not argue his talent and skill i would have thought young Australian of the year should have gone to someone more involved in helping humanity.
Australia Day...........viva la republic

ONYA Casey!!
Yes its not a cure for cancer ..
but his talent skill is awesome and also the general the profile of Motorcylcing as a sport in Australia is so low.. its hardly recognised.. competing with tennis, golf, rugby, car races.. so great to see Casey has hit the mark

Good to see and well deserved. We're going to keep hearing more about
Pacey Casey.

Our 'Sports Person of the Year' is a shot putter, and probably would have been an All Black but they have for once taken a back seat in view of the dismal World Cup failure.

Ride on !

Yeah I agree, the young aust of the year should ideally be involved in something in the sciences or humanities that improves peoples live.

But if it's gotta be a sports person, then at least it is OUR sport this time! From that perspective, goodonya Casey!

Like many others in the "list", Casey is following his dream for his own reasons. No disrepect for that. But, now he is a "knight" of Australia.

Good luck to him, but if he needs this crud, then I feel sorry for him - and the same comment for other self servers that populate the list.

Over abundant ego is a dirty word.
