2009 Indian Spy Video

Already, I like it better than the 2009 Triumph Mystery Cruiser...

I'm with Brooksie. You could tell me it's the 2009 Reading Standard reincarnation, and I couldn't disprove it. I can offer some pretty convincing evidence that resurrecting Indian is a fool's errand, though.

Seems as though when Indian came back in '97/'98(?) they were using S&S engines and doing alright for themselves. Then they tried to R&D an engine in house, and was a complete failure. Maybe they should have stuck with S&S for awhile.

Looks like the same piece of crap shown here.

http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/

Just a rehash of the Gilroy California , H-D clone, S&S engined crap that ran the California Indian Company out of business. Saw they're taking "deposits" on new bikes, that haven't even been put into production yet. Yea, right.

From the small amount that one can interpret about it's looks... it sucks.

...sounds nice, though. Who knows if it's really an Indian? Windscreen??

Not sure how you arrived at that conclusion.
From the pic at their web site, it looks to be an in-house replica of the old Indian motor, not an S&S.

I don't think I would write Indian off so fast. The guys who are running it have tons of money and aren't in a rush to get the product to market. If they can do with Indian what the did with Chris-Craft then it will survive. But it won't be challenging Harley : any time soon. They will probably start small and keep it that way for awhile. Look at the exec team, all have good experience doing this. Add in that they are only doing 50 dealers at first. Shoot Harley has 17 dealers in my state alone and we only have 6.4 million people living here. By example the Puget Sound area has tons of boat dealers, along with tons of boaters, yet we only have one Chris-Craft dealer. They are keeping it small and exclusive. Take a peak at a Chris, they are drool inducing.

Now if you want to talk market dynamics and introducing a new product on a down market, lets just say this is going to make this more difficult for them. But there are still ton's of people out there with money.

Well I know that HD, Victory and Indian have one thing that does appeal to me, they are made in the US and not the Phillipines. If Triumph is set on farming out all their bikes outside of England, then the chances of me ever buying another Triumph...at least one that is a new will be zero.

I am already maneuvering to get a Victory Hammer 1600 V to add to my collection. Why wait for the mythical when you can get the tangible. Victory is showing up at the shows and they are alot more active in enticing bikers with a well designed and thought out bike. Sorry if anyone is offended, but Triumph is in need of a wake up call. I still have not forgiven them for what they did to the Rocket...which was great the way it looked before. Now it looks like a HD ripoff. Minus a V.
