Despite living in England, I like to follow the NFL. Been to Wembley 2014 & 2015 to see Jags v Cowboys, Chiefs v Lions. I'm going to two games this year, as we have an extra one at Twickenham, home of Rugby Union. So, can my adopted team the Packers take it the distance this year, or who is your money/hope on? I loved watching the Chiefs last year, and that Wembley game was a turning point in their season. If not the Packers, I'd like to see them win the Superbowl. :smile2:

I used to loooooooove and look forward to the start of the season so much.

But now (well, ever since about 2005'ish)...

Kick-off... A million commercials...

Then, 3 & out, punt... A million commercials...

***God forbid there is a touchdown or field goal...***

Score... A million commercials.

Extra point for 5 seconds... A million commercials...

Then, kick of the ball to the other team, touchback (all of 5 seconds)... A BILLION commercials...

Then the other team finally gets to play... (Just pray there is no questionable call that needs the use of replay... Otherwise...)...

A GAZILLION of those STUPID Chevy commercials where they go to these ridiculous elaborate $$ lengths just to surprise four or five "real people, not actors" that Chevy doesn't suck anymore... (What the hell are those "real people, not actors" doing during the day, that they are able to get all dressed up, and fake-act really surprised about Chevys... Then go drive home in their Mercedes that their husbands just bought them?

I literally just saw one where four cars come rising from out of the ground, hoisted on giant concrete platforms, in this gigantic warehouse. The place looks like some elaborate Area-51 top-secret fortress! All that, just to impress four hot housewives that probably already have way cooler cars... Ugh, and that dumb guy and his weird-beard. And that stupid sport-coat with jeans on & Pilgrim shoes. #face-palm

I stopped watching American tackleball when I started playing rugby union in 1981. I was happily surprised to see that NBCSN will be televising the Aviva Premiereship this year. Top flight English football and rugby union on a major U.S. broadcaster? Life is getting better.

It's kind of sad that the former Fortress will be surrendered to the former colony's bastardization of the One True Team Sport, but I guess the way the English lads have been going the last few years, they have to try anything to sell tickets.

I gave up NASCAR. I'll admit, it was't that hard. Kinda like bragging about giving up sour milk. It was only mediocre when it was good, but now that it's bad ...

And now I'm working on football. It's a tad harder. I grew up on Patriots during the Grogan and following years, when they thoroughly sucked. And during Bledsow when "soon they might not suck quite so much, soon". (That guy was a "promising" quarterback for like ten years it seems). So I feel like I've earned enjoying them win now. And being in Wisconsin, not being pro-Packer is kinda like not being pro-Communist under Stalin. Best just to appear to support the Pack, even if you don't. But I admit, I do enjoy watching htem.

But I'm working on giving up the NFL. Turns out, there's all sorts of other things to do on a Sunday. And if the Pack is playing you can grocery shop alone and there is no traffic. Just like getting up at 4AM but with better lighting and less exhaustion.

Still a fan of football. I'll be a Bronco fan till they're kicking dirt over my grave. As a kid I got to go on the field at a Bronco game where they were playing the Raiders. Ever since then...... well.

Anyway I'm a fan of football and watch the other live sports as a "B" cannel on the remote.

What I don't understand is people who play fantasy football.

I am a Bronco fan, but I think it may be the Vikings year to shine
Broncos fan as well. Have season tickets even (since they opened the new Mile High) but when the weather gets colder, I'd rather watch it on my couch with a good beer than outdoors.

I can't ever keep up with the stats that some folks can though. My fiance reminds me that all those guys are single for a reason.

Too many scandals with football that made me lose interest.

When I found out they were charging the government for seats for the veterans and military personel , that was the straw that broke the camels back. Then I found out they don't pay tax, hard to believe they have some type of tax free status or at least limited tax....NO, shut the frocking thing down as far as I'm concern. Ties with corrupt politicians for tax relief, I'm done.

Minnesota's QB Teddy Bridgewater injured and out for the season. - Sucks to be a Vikings fan.

In other news... Chicago's QB Jay Cutler is healthy. - Sucks to be a Bears fan.

As someone who isn't really a fan of either team, the loss of Bridgewater is going to hurt the Vikings the most, because I think he was ready to take it up to the next level and at least put the Vikings in the playoff conversation.

But I have a feeling as sever as this injury apparently was, there is no guarantee he will be 100% next year, so this may be a long term hurt.

That said, I think the Vikings have more tools and a stout defense and will fair better than the Bears, even without Bridgewater, this year.
