A few pictures from my "Epic" NZ Ride...
I probably should have posted this a while back, but I got tied up with the Holidays and work and some other issues, but back in late November, I went on a 2 week trip to NZ and Oz. While in NZ, I visited TbirdNZ and toured the North Island on a Rented Sprint ST.

Here are some of the best pics:

Here's the rental. Very impressed, BTW. I had a great time on that bike...

This shot was taken from John's back porch, actually. Early one morning, a guy decided to take to the skies in his balloon. I just happened to have my camera,

This is one that I shot with my manual focus fisheye. The hills were so green and lush. It really was a beautiful country,

...and the Gannet colony, which I thought was amazing, actually. The nests are very systematic considering they were done randomly by birds.

I had never seen a tea tree before,

This should be one for "Torque" or "Triumph" magazine (or something). Here's the bike, parked at Waipoua Forest, where some of the oldest trees on the planet can be seen.

This looks just like a California Poppy and I found it just south of Thames...

Oh yeah! Here's a good one of the Tower in Auckland! That's as close as I got to it, BTW. I was having too much fun touring around and seeing the sites on the North Island, that I never got any closer than this. Oh well, I guess I've gotta go back now.

Yeah, I love The Shakies in Summer too.
I really should get back over there sometime.
It's been 30 yrs!
So it's probably changed a bit.
& it is where I first got my love of riding fast on country backroads.
I'd love to ship my Scrambler over there one Summer.
Maybe next year.

Nice to see those shots again 5hundo, here's a candid one of you taken up North, that's my CB in the background and our friend Stan's Adventurer on the right.

Another shot of the Gannet colony, which I think you took !

Great tour, really enjoyed it even if I did get saddle sore on the last day.

So................
Fivehundo did Tbirdnz take you up Highway 16?

NZ has IMHO some of the best M/C roads in the world.

Glad you enjoyed Aoteoroa.

In case 5hundo can't remember Dave, yes we went via Highway 16 and I have a shot of him at the Look-out just before Wellsford. I won't post it, he might not want to be too readily identified, it's a close-up. !
