Looking for automobile help in Torrance, CA or maybe on way to Quartzite, AZ by now

My sweet hippie daughter and her dog from Chico, CA are stuck in Torrance, CA. Her old '73 Chevy van needs about $1000 of brake and wheel work. I don't have the details because she can't tell me, because she doesn't really understand this stuff. She's considering driving it to Quartzite, AZ anyway, but I hope and pray she doesn't since it isn't safe. The only good thing is her mother lives in Torrance, so she is safe and sound for now, though stuck and frustrated.

I haven't got any $$$ to send her, and I don't get paid for almost two weeks.

Anyone in that area able to suggest a mechanic who can give a second opinion; maybe there is a cheaper fix? Anyone got a garage and want to help 21 year old kid get back on the road just because...? Hey, it can't hurt to ask. She's my kid and I want to help her find a way out of a jam. No father can stand to listen to his daughter on the phone crying for an hour.

Thanks, guys and gals, for humouring me...

Great! Just the sort of joke I need to hear!

Just as long as she keeps Artemus nearby, she's okay. Artemus? Oh, she's the wolf/dog mix (mostly wolf) that daughter travels with. Not that I don't worry about her anyway.

Fivehundo, I'll make sure she didn't head to AZ anyway and get back to you. How do you think you might help? I'll give her a call and see what I can find out.

Thanks, guys!

Hey Medic09, I just wanted you to know that I'm praying for her. Let us know how it works out!

THANK YOU FIVEHUNDO!

I just spoke with my daughter after she spoke with you. Sounds like you are giving her good local advice, and this long-distance father really appreciates it! Whether she can fix the van or not, at least she'll have the peace of mind from knowing that a more intelligent approach was taken.

Thank you from the bottom of my fatherly heart.
