Vulcan flies again !

Probably my favourite aircraft of all time, the Vulcan, restored and flying again.

The video:

An awesome aircraft and great to see it flying again.

From the thread title I was expecting to see something about Star Trek.

...and when I first saw the video title I thought it was a good bike post, the Kawasaki Vulcan ! If you can't trust the BBC who can you trust ?

Our US members should be interested in this plane, it was the first plane to breach the US radar defences, in a joint US/UK exercise with the RAF planning a mock 'attack' on the US mainland, they got thru with ease by flying low and the Vulcans unique qualities. The Vulcan is the daddy of stealth ! It's delta wing shape and rounded 'edges' was the first aircraft to have radar evading qualities.

So why is this your favorite aircraft?

Well hidesert they were around the time I was in the RAF although I never flew in one but I have always thought they were a very beautiful aircraft. There is a standing exhibit in my home town and I go to see it every time I visit.

I remember in Singapore during the so called 'Indonesi Confrontation' and the British Ministry of Defence denied that there were any 'V' bombers in Singapore, this was published in the Singapore Times. That same day 6 of them did a formation slow bank over Singapore harbour, so much for denials !

Other Motorcycle: one is enough but I'd love a thruxton just to use for cafe racing.
Extra Motorcycle: nah
best british

I remember when I was a child (early 60s) I saw a Vulcan take off from Edinburgh RAAF base just north of Adelaide. I believe it may have been involved in testing an aerial drop of an atom bomb at Maralinga (far west outback of Sth Aus). Even then, and for a child, it was an awesome sight. Such a beautiful aircraft!
I actually saw one at Duxford in England. It was a static display at the air museum there. I spent ages walking around it and taking photos whilst my wife sat in the shade, watching me and thinking I was bonkers!
Another aircraft I really love is the awesome F111!! Our air force is still flying them.

Thanks Ace, a much better video than the BBC one. Yes I was aware of it's first flight but just decided to post it today here.
