Sometimes the world and its inhabitants are horrid. I know its not up there with shootings, suicide bombings, etc, etc, but once again I've had all my tools pinched from my van! What sort of c*nt' robs tools, this is my living, I'm unable to put food on the table until I get a loan, to replace some of what I need.

I'm a bit of a tree hugger but even I am feeling like I could kill, bloody good job, I can't purchase a gun...................rant over.
Biggsy (gutted).

That sux Biggsy, but if they do catch them dont transport any more of them to Australia though.
I have my tools on the back of my ute for maintenance and always lock it.
Hopefully they will slip and skin their knuckles.
More knuckles and and less hugs mate...

Sorry to hear that, but some people just suck. They think their entitled to have whatever they want, no matter how hard somebody else worked to buy it. They'll get caught eventually

News flash. As someone who works in Law enforcement, I can tell you these sort of people will not care. They will serve their time, get out, and do it again.

This is a thing I have seen many times in the past so I can understand how you must be feeling. Some years ago someone turned up with a lorry one night and lifted 6 exotic bikes off our works car park, despite the CCTV and security patrols. It prompted the company to build a fenced in bike shed, with access only by clock card.

If you have reported the theft to the Police you should be able to get a crime reference number from them and claim on your van insurance, at least up to a certain amount. That might cover you for the tools you need to keep going temporarily, until you can replace the rest yourself.

Meanwhile I recommend you fit something like this to your van:

My brother is a finish/ trim carpenter in north Jersey, and his commercial van was recently broken into for the second time in five years in a local home depot parking lot- this time the bastards literally cut half of one of the back doors off with a cordless sawzall to gain access, as he had added special locks to the doors- they stole about $5K in tools and equipment- cops told him "it happens all the time"..truck was parked less than 100' from the main entrance-he's basically out of work, borrowing tools during peak season while he tries to settle with the insurance company. He and his fellow workers are now taking turns watching the lot when they can in an effort to nail these pricks, as a number of them have been hit. Store won't put outside cameras up because they think it sends a bad message to their customers, and the local cops are too busy writing speeding tickets

Fill the van with rattlesnakes and leave it parked overnight.

...sorry officer, no idea how they got in there >:)

But seriously, they're most likely drug addicts, they only have one goal and that's to get money to feed their habit. They have no concern for anything else.

It's not "a disease" as we're continually forced fed by the media and powers that be, it's a personal choice they made and it's perpetuated by do-gooders and the welfare state. The solution is quite simple - give them free drugs. Lock them in a 6x4 concrete cell with a big bag of their chosen poison and let 'em go for it. The bodies can be recycled as fertiliser so something useful would come out of it and possibly make the whole solution financially viable.

My solution for the unemployed is also a cracker - build huge bicycle-powered power generating stations. Instead of a welfare cheque, they can spend 8 hours a day generating electricity and by doing so earn a living wage. It would also be great for the environment as they could replace nuclear and coal fired power plants - even the greenies can't complain about that, especially while they're too busy pedaling or sleeping from exhaustion.

Well that's two world problems I've solved today, wonder what I'll do tomorrow :hmmmmm

News flash- the cops know all about this and do nothing to stop or prevent it- the lowlifes prey on contractors and go so far as to have inside people watching how long the guys are in the store, texting the outside guys-the cops told my brother the store's lot is private property and it's their responsibility, it's only a police matter if the perps are caught in the act...one cop actually told him "if you had this happen before, why did you come back?" Great message there...and you have to get busted, prosecuted, convicted and serve your time, before you can "do it again"- that is, if the police are doing their job...

It is really sad when people feel they have the right to take other people's property when they like or have an opportunity. Very sad especially when it is from someone trying to make a legal existence.

Not up there with the racial riots in Dallas but a personal attack nevertheless. At least Biggsy there was no personal threat to you or family.

Putting it in to perspective (and not wanting to diminish the personal effect to you) they are only tools. :)

Still scum though

Can't insure tools on van's, premium too high. I must of left the back door ajar by mistake, so I only have myself to blame. I was literally only 10 yards from the van, mowing grass, back doors facing away from me! CCTV of the property don't work.
Totally with you Chef, on no personal threat, but I feel violated every time I open the back doors up:frown2:

Never had anything more than a house break in,..and the twat who stole $200 USD walked right by a 45 year old Gibson guitar.

I have nothing to offer than,..get an alarm system and your insurance may go down, or make your vehicle steal proof as much as possible,...or bobby trap it,..but then you will be the one charged and the thieve will be the victim.

And the wheel rolls on.

Thats a classic, drip feed them ice and they wont need to sleep and up the dose during peak times. Youll get your fertilizer too eventually.

I grew up on a market garden and we had tools and parts going missing. I finally caught one steeling a pumpkin and knocked him out. He kept working for us and two others quit the next week. And no more missing tools and parts.
I hate thieves!
