England and football

Whatever happened to England in the European Football Championship?
You kicked Sven Goran out though he got you there two times – does anyone have a good explanation? My opinion is that you who invented football can not give in; we want you to sort this mess out.

Bouncebackability ?

I wish I had an answer! I'm hugely disappointed at our failure to qualify, but to be honest with you, it's been coming. I am not one of those arrogant enough to think England has a divine right to qualify and win every competition we enter; but obviously as a fan, of course I still feel let down.

England's results speak for themselves over the last 18 months, and I think you can put our failure down to a number of things; whilst you can't solely blame the FA, the management, the players, the tactics, they all have contributed. There have been some poor decisions made in each of those areas at different times, appointments, selections, tactics.

Perhaps something good will come out of this. Perhaps we will look at things like culture of junior football (get away from win at all costs and focus on developing and nurturing skills and talent instead). Maybe we will consider ways to ensure more homegrown players get chances to play first team football at the top level, and maybe we will start to come away from relying too heavily on individuals and start to select teams that can play certain systems.

Hopefully this episode represents us hitting the bottom, the only way now, is up.

It's probably not enough young players playing at grass roots level and the fact the top league in England is not really an English league, the Premier league is an international league, fielding more foreign players than English. Most English players can only aspire to play in the 1st Division and don't get top flight experience.

England played Croatia with several first select players missing and didn't have enough indepth reserves to pick up the balance.

Can't see the situation getting any better in the future.

My favorite team in American football is the New England Patriots and we're getting slack for making it to the finals too many times and beating our opponents by too big of a margin! LOL

When it comes to English Football, my English football friend has me brain-washed to root for Sunderland. So -------

GO SUNDERLAND!

Professional soccer - a game for overpaid thugs and actors. I gave up on it years ago. Never regretted it either.

The problem with the England team is it consists of a bunch of over-paid "big time charlie's" with no passion or pride to wear the 3 Lions on there shirts!
What England need is a team of Alan shearer's, Tony Adams', Stuart "psyhco" Pearce's, and Gary Neville's who would fight for the team and get stuck in!

England have just been drawn in the preliminary World Cup 2010 draws with Croatia, so they will get a chance to see if they can beat this team. Hopefully some of the England players who missed the last match will get to play in this one.
