We need a Torque supplement to Triumph Mag
This isn't a gripe about Triumph Magazine, I understand the focus is different from Torque. Triumph won't print and ship another Torque magazine, but an email or online newsletter seems reasonable.
I'd like to see information on events, RAT groups, ride reports, racing updates, US RAIDs... This doesn't have to be a US thing either, and content doesn't have to be done exclusively by Triumph employees. Newsletters can be done by region with its own unique information. RATs can submit articles and photos to talk up their local Paks, and maybe even model specific ride-ins can get some press.
I'm posting here to see if you liked the old Torque. I'm going to petition my dealer, and see what Triumph email addresses I can come up with to submit my suggestion. I'd like to know if you think its a good idea, and if you would do the same.
Regarding the new magazine, I wish Triumph all the best, and hope it generates lots of sales for them. So not about the new mag (there is already a long thread on that one), but what do you think about bringing back the old Torque?

I would just like to see the new Triumph mag to be made of softer, more absorbent paper, because at the moment it`s playing havoc with my Haemorrhoids...

lol Welshrob!
I wasn't ever that impressed with Torque, until the new mag came out...
I would rather just get a patch like they used to (instead of a magazine). This site and a few others do a good job at provding info. I would however check out any official Triumph e-zine or newsletter to see what I thought.

I prefered the old Torque mag. The new one is too corporate advertising. OK it tells us what's going on within Triumph but with the old one you could see all the upcoming events right into the next year so you could plan your holidays and weekends.

Yah, I think the old Torque was still pretty general, regionally speaking. I don't know if the contributors were all Triumph employees or no.
I'd really like to see articles by people actually doing the event, and oriented to region. To me, Torque was supposed to be for riders, about riding Triumph. Really, the two biggest issues I think are:
Does anyone care, and would they read the newsletter?
Would Triumph be cool with sponsoring a community newsletter? And by that I mean, would they accept articles for publishing from RATs?

Whether it's called Torque or Triumph, it's still just a fan magazine, or what we call a magalogue, which is a product catalog disguised as a magazine. For up-to-date information on upcoming events, Triumph should keep their website current. The e-mails are okay too.

So what do we do, produce our own? I always used looked forward to sneering at Torque. Torque was cool because at least you could look at the pictures and see if you knew anybody, dream about riding in far off places, etc. I know I don't know that half-shaven nitwit, or his scantly clad trollop. If I ever see the New One again it will be too soon.
Actually, I kind of like the idea of producing a Renegade Torque. Pictures of actual Triumph riders, route maps from all over the country (er, ah, world); low production value. Seems like a goer to me. Any Rat Packs, independently wealthy Rat, or what have you want to sponsor it? Anyone else out there want to help me butcher it?
Just a quiet rant.

torque
i still have my old copies of torque. it was not a great magazine but it was triumph. the riders and what was going on in the triumph world was ok. the new magazine is like a info mercial on tv. the new magazine is free! it does not make a rider feel he is part of a organization or a group. i feel triumph is missing out on maintaining the cult and qroup or family feeling of the riders. triumph riders are different and that is one reason they ride and follow the line. anyone can buy a honda , harley , yamaha or suzuki. they take pride in the fact that they are ridng a great bike that is not a cookie cutter clone. triumph seems to be pulling them selves away from RAT, shows and other types of presences in the motorcycle world. i traded my America. i traded it for a trophy. i love triumph motorcycles . joe

OK, I've drafted a letter to Triumph, and have started by putting it in the hands of my dealer. We'll see if there is a response.
