The Falling Leaves...take care.

As I'm playing out my last few days in the International Investment Cube Farm, I punched out about 1:30 today and went for a ride.
It was sunny, windy, and about 55 degrees.
Such a bittersweet time of year. The trees are ablaze in color, the air seems clean, the school kids are out playing touch football and soccer. Winter is close at hand, so I need to ride whenever I get the chance.

But take care out there, those falling leaves, especially when wet, are a real hazzard. Then tend to clog up around the drains on corner intersections and will take out your rear wheel in a trice. I've already had a couple of slips, but nothing too dramatic.

A. Long
B. There is no Famous Grouse to be had in Rapid City.

Nuff said, although I had a nice view of Dinosaur Park out of my hotel window.

Additionally, acorns can mess with you. Autumn can be beautiful, but as a precursor to laying-up the bike, it sucks.

There is a road that runs up over the ridge above Honolulu that is quite twisty and narrow with over hanging trees, and normally a nice road to ride along.
At certain times of the year the trees drop fruit which gets squashed on the road, which can be very slippery in places.

Pine needles are as bad, if not worse than leaves. Beware.

You should have said something! I'd have mailed you a bottle of Edradour or Laphroaig in a heartbeat!

...I never said it would have been full, but I'd have mailed the bottle.

Good post Scott. Wet leaves are nasty.

In many places it's also deer hunting season.
Be on the alert for deer darting out of fields & woods, running for thir lives.

Nice post Scott. Just the right touch of melancholy to match the end of riding season and your vocation.

PS Think about Bennington in June. That'll help get us through the winter months. And toy with the idea of riding your bike there. You can always ship it back. I'll meet you halfway and ride in with you.
