2008 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio
Dates July 25-27. This years (2008) featured marque being honored is TRIUMPH.
Is anybody else planning on going?
Man.......if the Triumph factory truck doesn't show up at this one.......someone in marketing at Triumph America is brain dead! Triumph should pull out all the stops and arrange to have a bunch of historic Triumph (I know, I know....they're Meriden not Hinckley) race bikes etc there on display. When MV Agusta was featured two years ago they brought in Giacomo Agostini and he signed autographs and did laps around the track on one of his old race bikes. Cool as h#ll.
I'm going to check into camping with the Brit Bike group again if they have room. A good friend of mine knows a bunch of those guys and we had a blast with them a couple years ago. Vintage racing on the Mid-Ohio road course all weekend and you can stroll through the pits. Rode down to the nearby dirt track with a big bunch of Brit Bike guys and watched dirt track racing one night. Huge, huge swap meet, but it gets pretty picked over if you don't get there early. Good toilets and hot showers (mens and womens) at the campground, but usually a line for the showers in the morning. Several cafes/church groups around that cater to feeding the motorcycle crowd. If you're going to book a local hotel do it early!

I love Vintage Motorcycle Days. I'll deffintely be going again this year. When it gets closer to time we should set up a ride to it.

If'n I remember correctly its a bit north of Columbus, closer to Mansfield, just outside of a town called Lexington. A nice side trip is the AMA museum in Pickerington.

Dirk Gently: Good job on those links! But, every body keep in mind that it shows the schedule for this years (2007) VMD, not next years (2008) event. I'm assuming the 2008 program schedule isn't out yet, other than the dates it will take place.

Here's some info for 2008:
http://www.amadirectlink.com/vmd/2008/
Triumph was there this year with the demo truck and a "Mini Raid". I thought the mini raid was OK (we got a T-Shirt and a dinner catered by Mid-Ohio for $25). People who have been to other raids were disappointed so Triumph sent vouchers for $50 to the people who paid for the mini-raid. I used mine for a jug of Mobil 1.
I expect Triumph will definitely be back next year and will really give an effort to do a better job.

I am in!
I had a great time at Mid-Ohio this year and look forward to the weekend in 2008. I have already booked the rooms. Be sure to book your hotel early, otherwise you'll be forced to stay near Sandusky.
