I have 3 days in Auckland!!!

What should I do?

I'm headed to OZ after that but I want to see the sights.

Suggestions?

I hear the glow worm caves are cool...

3 Days Ain't Much

and why would one want to go to Australia??

For me, a bite to eat on a nice sunny day at the Viaduct. NZ food is delicious and good value. Enjoy the sights - boats and two legs.

Then head north to the Waipoua forest and the giant Kauis, then perhaps Waitomo Caves, or the smelly sights of Rotorua (not a favourite, but certainly worth it to grasp the history of NZ.

After that, cancel the Australian leg and do the South Island

3 days which I think will include arriving and departing ? Bit pushed to see Waitomo glow worm caves but not impossible. The giant Kauri forests are in the opposite direction so would not be possible to do both.

I believe you're on a business trip to OZ 5hundo so your time is committed.

Rotorua, depends if you like mud pools and geysers, I think it's over rated but then again I've been quite a few times with visitors but I haven't done Waitomo yet !

Look at the NZ tourist web sites and see what you fancy. Let me know and I'll let you know if it's possible for your time.

So you are still on for the 18th November ?

Ride on !

Coromandal Peninsula is a great ride and not too far from Auckland. It is a favourite with riders. Very scenic and windy.

... hey fivehundo - as you can tell - a few possibilities there but depends on whether you want to travel around or just stay in Auckland.
Are you thinking of hiring a car or bike?

Nope, purely pleasure...

I've wanted to dive the great barrier reef for a long time...

If you enjoy Military museums, Auckland has a great War Memorial Musuem just above the CBD.

The Skytower is worth a look.

A scenic ride / drive in the Waitakere ranges.

Hire a bike and ride my old stomping ground
1) the road through to Helensville and out to South head Golf course
2) Highway 16 from Kaukappakappa to Welsford....................I know these roads like the back of my hand.

There are lots of beautiful scenic places

Drive up Mount Victoria or Savage memorial for fantastic harbour views.

Visit my old local The "Albany Tavern".

Catch a ferry over to Rangitoto Island and climb to the top, (it's quite a climb) a perfect volcanoe cone. 360 degree harbour views.

Auckland is where I grew up.

Ditto what Rob said if you want to catch up in Brisbane or the Gold Coast I'll be up for a few ales or rumbos.

Thanks for the ideas, guys!

There will be much drinking on this trip, so I hope I can share at least a few of those w/ y'all when I get down there...

When it gets closer to my travel dates, I'll post up the details so we can try to plan something.

Sound like a plan?
