Phishing !

Todays Sydney Morning Herald warns Aussies that not enough know about Phishing and that they are susceptible to being 'caught'.

I think that same advice would apply to most countries, phishing is getting more and more sophisticated and are catching even experienced users in passing personal financial details over the internet or 'phone.

Anyone have any personal experiences in such attacks ?

I don't respond to offers from people I have not already contacted and I surely would not respond to an offer for free money. What a load.

Rob,
I must have gotten a dozen of those emails lately.

I think it is funny that the Claims Consultant has a hotmail email address.

Welshrob,
I get at least one of these every day on my Emails, from what I can ascertain the Diction & Grammer of these little gems makes me think that a "4th. Grader" has composed & written this garbage. The real purpose of these Emails, I believe is to try to steal a persons identity.
The Emails I get a laugh at are the ones from Nigeria & Ghana proposing to give a person millions of Stolen / Lost dollars in return for smuggling said amount into your country - the sad thing is though, there are people who get sucked into these blatently obvious cons by 1/2 educated dipsticks.

Angry

I have received those and one from a poorly done IRS reimbursement notification, all you need to do is supply the necessary information and you can get your $268.00 that is yours.

Some people just do not want to work they would rather steal.
