Ted Simon coming to New Bedford, MA
If any are down my way on Oct 12th, Friday, look me up and we'll go to Ted Simon's book signing. There's cold beer nearby too.

It doesn't look like the show will have any Triumphs this year. Too bad. Last year he had two classics. Should be a great show in any event, great bikes.

We expect a comprehensive report, and maybe some guest commentary by Mr. Simon, as well? Bring your laptop and let him rant to us unworthy RATS.
Wish I could be there...

Is his book still available? I've heard about it for years, but never seemed to find a copy of it anywhere....
I might just make it a plan to come and see him.... He's gotta be getting on in years...

Jupiter's Travels is still available. We just read it last year in my house. Great read. I gave it to a patient (injured rider) for inspiration to get back on his feet and his bike.

Did you find it online? Was it a reprint, or an original copy?

Ted Simon... Where can he be?
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...ords=ted+simon
Sheesh... He's all around you.
His work and bio and words are so impressive, that if you don't work for them a bit, you are not worthy...

scott,
i'll definitely try for pictures! i know how this guy has affected you and so many, i really am looking forward to talking to him. i'm hoping to entice those nearby to come and support this man.
if i think about it in context, what he has done is simply amazing. to sit back and write books, novels, poetry is brilliant in its own right, but to DO IT and then be able to write about it, that goes beyond the norm. and at his age to DO IT AGAIN! he's my hero. if i could do 1/100th of what he's done, i might feel content.
i'll try to convey your feelings to him also. i'll suggest he stop by minn-e-snow-ta too!
(if i forget my camera, shoot me.)

Ted and me
I got to meet the guru. What a great, unassuming man. Full of stories as you'd expect, but non of them pretentious. For those of you who have seen "Long Way Round" and remember Ted in Mongolia with Ewan and Charley and wondered what he was doing there, I got the straight story. I asked him if he were riding there again. Nope, they (the boys) flew him out there for a camera shoot. He thought that was pretty nice.
He mentioned if he were to take another ride around the world, he wouldn't tell anyone. And all he'd bring would be a toothbrush. He suggests we all overpack. Did I mention he was full of great stories?
PS For those who don't know, he's the one with hair!
