Press Release - Triumph Scuderia

TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES AND SCUDERIA SC CARACCHI
TOGETHER TO CONTEST 2008 WORLD SUPERSPORT

Paris 28 September 2007

"Today, September 28th, 2007, on the fantastic stage of Paris Motorcycle Show, with presence of Simon Warburton, Triumph Motorcycles Co. Product Manager, and Stefano Caracchi, Scuderia SC Team Owner, has been made official the partnership between Team SC and Triumph to compete in 2008 World Supersport Championship with the Daytona 675. This is the Triumph's first venture into racing on the world stage since the company was re-established in Hinckley.

The Team Triumph-SC will be the sole factory representative for Triumph Motorcycle Co.

The factory team will be run by Stefano Caracchi and will be based in Bologna, Italy. The team will field two riders in World Supersport class and another two in the European Championship Superstock 600 reserved to young guns. The riders have yet to be confirmed but are expected to be a mix of British and Italian talent.

Triumph's Product Manager, Simon Warburton, said: "This is a really exciting opportunity for Triumph and the factory is behind the team 100%. The Daytona 675 has won many awards since its launch and participating in the Supersport World Championship will further raise the profile of this fantastic bike and Triumph's profile in general."

Stefano Caracchi, addressing the press during the announcement, commented: "The Supersport and Superstock 600 are very competitive and hard categories, but we are very confident in the potential of the Daytona 675. Our team has contested the World Superbike Championship ever since the first series and we have a highly talented and experienced technical staff managed by Franco Farnč to develop the Daytona to meet this new challenge. Triumph has welcomed our project with enthusiasm, and we will repay their confidence. Triumph is a legend for every motorsport fan, and Team SC is proud to become a small part of this long and fascinating history. Good luck to Team Triumph-SC!"

Customers, fans and sponsors could follow the team's exploits through a dedicated Team Triumph-SC website, which will go live later this year. The 2008 championship is also expected to be covered live on Eurosport in the UK and Italy, as well on dozens of other channels worldwide."

Very exciting news.

But given Team SC's home base, does that mean any time we Triumphites see one of these events on TV, we're obliged to stand up and cheer "Bologna! Bologna! Bologna!"?

Excellent news and hopefully a pre-cursor to a Daytona in the Superbike class.

I love Bologna. I even named my dog "Bella Bologna" (we just call her Bella though).

So they're setting up shop in Bologna! I wonder how Ducati feels about that?
