The Ducati Saga - Episode 134
And now from the Bologna Bozos I bring you this shock revelation.
"50% less maintenance cost on every 2007 Ducati
We are proud to announce that all 2007 Ducati models require less frequent service, fewer parts and less labour during each service and, as a result, greatly reduced scheduled maintenance costs – by as much as 50%."
So that means only $50,000 dollars check up rather than $100,000
Now tell me Luigi and Antonio what have you done to your bikes to reduce the cost by 50%? I'd bet my money they have done nothing other than wise up to the fact that the Japanese and others don't rip off their customers by as much money and are taking away their customers. I can bet my bottom dollar that an awful lot of older Ducati owners are spitting blood knowing they have been ripped off with extortionate service costs. Classic Ducati eh?. Same as the bikes, bring a model out at a stupid price and then reduce it by 40% a year later.
And to end the saga I bring you the most outrageous lie ever perpetrated since Noah told his wife that he liked one or two pets on his yacht to keep him company.
"The Monster is the original ‘naked’ motorcycle. Launched to rave reviews in the early 1990s, it has become a cult. Today, more than ever, it is the bike of choice for top designers, Hollywood stars and Formula One racing drivers."
Oh really? The original naked bike? Wow! What about Royal Enfield, Harley Davidson, HRD Vincent, B.S.A., Velocette, Rudge and so on.
What a bunch of liars. Visit Ducati.com for more entertainment.

As long as you are on a good rant, can you put in a few words about Harley Davidson while you are at it?

What is it with you and Ducati? Do you really think they are so much worse than the other marques?

Re: Ducati maintenance schedules, here's what Ducati owners have to say-----http://www.ducati.ms/forums/showthread.php?t=13388&highlight=maintenance+sched ules
As for the "naked bike" assertion, here's how I take it. Back in the day when I first started riding (kind of at the beginning of the Japanese takeover of the market) almost all bikes were UJM. Then with the increased popularity of motorcycling, "categories" like sport bike and touring bike were created. Eventually one of those categories became "naked bike" or "street fighter", so I think Ducati alludes to that most recent time period. Are they accurate? Matter of opinion I guess.

Not at all. I just like to de-bunk marketing hyperbole. It's just that Ducati seem to be the leading experts at present. Triumph are also falling into the same trap. What on earth is 'Go Your Own Way' supposed to mean? What is it they are trying to say? Why not 'Go The Way Of T Bird'? I mean, how does one go one's own way if you've got ten kids? What if the highway is full of traffic what then? Go among the cages? It could go on forever.
And what is all this junk about 'DNA' and 'Genetic Engineering'. Are they on drugs or something? It's an offence to the medical research profession. If I may coin a word it is mechanomprphic. Since when was genetic engineering related to welding and painting a few bits of metal?
As for: 'The Monster is the original ‘naked’ motorcycle'. That can only be taken one way. There is no ambiguity. Only a pedant would want to argue otherwise. The word original is the key.
Visit the National Motorcycling Museum in England and you will see all the 'original' naked bikes on show.
Next topic. Bikes that have soul?!
Go your own way

I think it's a better slogan than, "Now that we have your money, please leave." Which was what I was basically told by the Triumph dealership where I bought my D650. And that is why I won't be buying another Triumph and will more than likely buy a DUCATI!!!!! bwahahahahahhaa
Ducati did improve the internals of their engines, I think it was the cam belts, and by so doing made the maintenance easier to perform, thereby cheaper. BUT, a read an article where this guy called around to various Ducati dealerships asking about pricing for servicing the new 2007 models, and only 1 out of 12 actually said that the new models were cheaper and easier maintenance and quoted a price that DNA has thrown out there. The rest were charging the same rates parts and labor that they had been charging, or didn't know anything about the cheaper to sevice 2007 models.

How about,
If you have to ask you wouldn't understand.
I own a have to ask shirt. it was bought as a gift for someone who rides HDs and they did not show up for the party. I am always afraid to wear it because if someone asks I don't understand.

if they came out with a super mono for the street I MIGHT consider a Duc...otherwise I look at those motors and have to ask why a cam drive would be driven by a belt on a motorcycle...yeah I know...I worked on Ford BDA's when we were racing...didn't like 'em then or now.
Aside from the prices, everytime I pass one I just think "man, your Chiropractor is gonna love you"
If it's Italian they are going to sell the hype and it doesn't matter if it's a Ferrari, Maserati or a Vespa...get ready to bend over...
Have some good memories about riding the old desmo thumper though! But that was another time in the universe...
