How are you dealing with the hot weather?
Earlier today, we were running errands up in NW Arkansas where the local Harley Dealer was doing a grand opening, bikes were everywhere. Later in the day, I chatted with a Vulcan rider at a C-Store who told me that the event was great; live bands, free food, and giveaways - but no one was riding, and all of the people packed in the store (trying to avoid the heat) was more than the air conditioning could keep up with.
When it gets around 100 degrees Fahrenheit, I wimp out and drive my Toyota.
What do you do?

It never gets that hot here in Hawaii.

I use my mesh jacket. I feel weird when not wearing a jacket. And if I were not to ride when it got up close to 100, I would never ride as it gets pretty **** hot on the San Fernando Valley.

The full kit stays on Shawn. Even today to do 4km to the service station for fuel it was draggin jeans, boots, leather jacket, gloves, helmet.
My view: Neither the road nor the fwit who runs you off care how you're dressed or how hot it is. Neither do they care if your 1km or 100 from home.
Russ
p.s. I ride all year round and have ridden a 900km plus day in 45 deg C hear (new years day a few yrs back), as well as commute in stop/start peak hour all summer and even snow (about 20km) on a 140km of dirt road.

won't be caught without it
Draggin' Jeans with armor, Sidi boots, Arai lid, carbon fibre reinforced gloves - my only concession to the heat is a Draggin' kevlar shirt with full armor. It really makes a difference over the perf leather jacket on super-hot days. Still must drink extra to stay hydrated as the kevlar shirt lets the wind dry you out rather than sweat doing it.

Hydration is a good point UpNorth. Particularly (if doing more than an hr out in the sun). It's really strange drinking 3ltrs in a day (before the pub) and not need to p$ss at all. The air just drys out the sweat and you don't notice how much fluid your losing.

Atgatt
Yep our average temp here is 95-100 with humidity of 70-95% but the road if ya hit it hurts just the same, plus with it being so hot you get wind burn sunburn not to mention if you come off and lie on the road waiting for someone to pick you up off it youll burn real quick from hot tarmac surface!!
I dont take the risk.. rather be hot n safe than lying in a hosp bed with road rash!!!
Mesh gear at these temps are vital and leathers are insane (Its hot enough doing 7 laps on the race track in full leathers at these temps track surface temp is 56c /132.8f) ..
I like my skin where it is
When riding hot drink lots of fluids and have regular breaks.. then all is still enjoyable!!

Sweat washes off. Gravel they have to pick out with tweezers.
Armored riding pants (looking for some perfed leather pants), Vanson perf jacket, lots of vitamin water.
I do actually alter my commute times (leave a bit early, stay a bit later at work) to avoid sitting too still in traffic in the heat of the day.
