Interesting Ducati interview - some Triumph content

Here is an article about Michael Lock who is CEO of Ducati North America. It's an interesting read in general, and since Lock worked for Triumph at a critical stage, there are some interesting bits of information for members of this forum...

Interesting article. Good parallel comparisons between Triumph and Ducati.

This article gives me even more respect for John Bloor.

A Good Read

... when he says they are bringing relationships to their approach I believe it will work. He speaks with good candor. He is engaging. He makes me want to want a Duc...... I think Triumph could learn a thing or two from his approach.... it is about relationships....

Still think Duc is missing the boat not offering a big single. It doesn't seem that hard for them.

That was a great read! The most interesting interview I've seen in years. Thanks!

Interesting read. It's a bit ironic though -- my local dealer recently dropped Ducati because Michael Lock was making life very difficult for him as a dealer of both Ducati and Triumph. Lock pressured him to drop Triumph and even offered him incentives to do so, but seeing as my dealer sells a lot more Triumphs than Ducatis, he refused. Relations degenerated to the point that my dealer decided it wasn't worth it anymore and dropped Ducati completely. And apparently many other dealers who carry both Triumph and Ducati are being pressured as well. What this article doesn't mention is that Michael Lock was fired from Triumph; perhaps he's trying to get back at them through the dealer network.

Now that's interesting. You would never know from the tone of the interview. Any ideas as to why he was fired?
