Rider and pillion in Texas get clipped by car, motorist says "I don't care"

Now, to start off with, the rider passed on a double solid yellow. I have two BIG issues with this crash:

1) the driver's response, which I think illustrates the lack of concern ppl have with other's well being
2) the riders were wearing basically zero PPE.

Discuss... http://fox8.com/2015/10/19/driver-who-swerved-and-hit-a-motorcycle-i-dont-care/

Personally, I'd have probably lost my cool with the driver in that situation bc of his attitude

I heard an interview of Mr Crum from jail replayed this morning on Lone Star 92.5, which I listen to over the interwebs.

The video is scary since there appears to be no prior interaction between the bike and him. Just the one unpredictable swerve. If it was intentional, he deserves life in prison in my opinion. Attempted murder.

Reckless endangerment at the least. But this guy isn't someone who learns a lesson from punishment. He's a good example of the "bad seed. " He is an uncaring sociopath who can't seem to help himself. What do you do with people like this?

We all know what we would like to do, right? But we have to treat him like everybody else in the justice system, except, he isn't.

Maybe Chapter 46C of the Texas Criminal Code is a place to start: Insanity.

There are a ton of people like him out there. If people start getting locked up for this $hit, they will think twice. It will definitely make more than a few @$$holes think.

I bet he cares now!

What an idiot the driver is. Some people just like motorbikes I guess. Even though the biker overtook on double yellow lines he doesn't deserve that :AngryDriver

I didn't think this story would go the way it has. I'm actually surprised that Crum has quite the record of being shall we say, a dbag. I don't know what will happen with this case, but I'm hoping the riders recover and the female gets to keep her arm. In my view, the cyclist was breaking a traffic code with the double-yellow pass but a lot of us do it. I sure do. No one deserves to be punted for that.

Guilt aside, I still think this is a great case of why you should gear up. It's anyone's choice to do so or not, but it sure sells me on the idea.

"I'm trying to protect my kids" is the equivalent of "I got bit by a spider." Both translate to the same thing - "I hate smart ass bikers who don't follow rules and I'm going to teach them a lesson." Everyone else gets caught in the crossfire.

Or was that a wasp? >:)

I learned a while ago, let stuff roll off your back as much as possible. Crum perhaps should've done that. If he was really bent, call the coppers and say that "some punk kid" passed him on a double yellow, and let the people paid to do something about those <gasp> infractions take care of it.

Then again, maybe we'll find out that Crum was undiagnosed as having steering wheel-related tourrettes and it was just an episode of said 'disorder,' and that he's now being treated, and has a medically necessitated comfort pet companion to aid his his coping with the harsh realities of the world.

Or maybe he's just an a** hat.

What we do in my office when someone is butthurt is have them fill out this form...
