If you know what it means then kudos to you.
If you don't... I guess I'll let you in on the secret code.
All The Gear...All The Time.
I'm thinking about making some vinyl stickers that say:
ATGATT
It's a motorcycle thing...You wouldn't understand.
Or something along the lines of that... I'm a strong supporter of wearing all your gear all the time, I don't believe comfort should outweigh safety, ever.
I have a buddy that cuts vinyl stickers as his job and can get them decently priced.
If you're interested I'll design something up in my Vinyl Sticker software.
If you have any ideas for the quote / saying / or logo or anything post please.
Also thinking of making a sticker that will tell your fellow riders that you care and will give them some room. "I'll pull over for my fellow motorcyclists" something along the lines of that.
I sit in traffic in my nice fully air conditioned scion TC to and from my work ( I work at a hospital so i can't ride to work and be all hot and sweaty at work ) and I want my fellow riders to know that I'm looking out for them and will give them some room to pass.

Comfort should always outweigh safety. If its 35degreesc and the humidity is hovering around 80% I will not wear anything that will make me hotter or dehydrate me(make me sweat excessively). It's often like that here in summer. I know that I will fatigue a lot quicker if I am over heated. Fatigue due to heat will cause me to crash. I dont do crashing. I am not about to start now because some safety nazi reckons I shouuld ATTGAT. Worry about yourself mate, let other look after themselves.
If you have a crash it is always your own fault, there are no exceptions or excuses. And thats about all I have to say on that.

Woodsie's first name must be Forest.
Woodsie I'll accept your 100% accountability theory. I am always responsible for everything that happens to me, no matter what. That is why I do wear the gear. Sorry you don't feel that way. I sincerely hope you don't fall down.
The immortality theory usually doesn't work to well for anyone.

RAT-ATGATT
or
A-RAT-AT-GA-TT (as in rat-a-tat-tat) thus: A rider at Triumph, All The Gear All The Time.
I could give you a wonderful Anglo Saxon word used daily in the U.K. and as the same rhyming sound but I won't bother - oh noooo!
or a cleaner version
Don't Be A Pratt
Go

Sorry mate I didnt sleep last night much, thats prolly why I am a bit gnarly this morning. Wear the gear if you like, but I have freedom of choice. I always wear a helmet though.

I literally laugh out loud at the idiot riders in CA that only wear a helmet for "Gear" they have sneakers, jeans and a t-shirt, or even worse a wife beater on.... these fools will be missing most of their muscle and skin if they go down.
Thats what I mean by ATGATT....
I wasn't insinuating that you have to wear all your gear, it is a personal choice, and when you're in the hospital having skin grafts done I'll be thinking about you and praying for your recovery. : : :
My point is that those who are supporters of ATGATT should help me come up with a nifty slogan to be made into a sticker for our cars / cages.

As they said in my Motorcycle Safety Foundation class, "Dress for the ride, not for the crash."

Actually I think they say "dress for the crash, not for the ride" but my MSF class was a looooong time ago. I beleive it should be a choice for us each to make although personally I wear gear on every ride. Like Red said, there are a lot of guys in CA that wear a $600.00 helmet, tank top, shorts and tennis shoes while doing wheelies at 75 mph on the 15 freeway. What makes me cringe the most is when I see the teenage girls on the back of a bike dressed that way. I think the riders should know better but I often wonder who has told the girls on the back just how much danger they are in.

When people have commented about the gear that I wear, I usually reply:
'I would rather have heat rash than road rash'
