There have been a few threads before, but not for a while (unless I missed it). Does anybody have recommendations for fictional books that feature motorcycles, motorcycle culture or characters who ride?
Preferably, I'd rather stay clear of anything related to bikers, biker gangs ect.
I have a bookshelf filled with narrative non-fiction (i.e. not manuals but column collections, memoirs, narrative journalism, etc.), but the use of motorcycles in fiction is, surprisingly, slight, unless you get into sleaze-gang paperbacks of the '70s (primarily), like:
I'm sure they're out there, but I'm afraid I don't know of any I can recommend.
I think some aspiring writers and publishers should take note. It would be novel (pun intended) to author a book or series that featured a motorcyclist main character. And not something targeted to wanna be 1%ers.
Well there is the classic Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. There are some passages about motorcycling and maintenance stuff but its basically a philosophy book and not some dreamy new age stuff. It discusses and connects ideas of some of the classical philosophers. Its a tough read but if you finish it you will see things differently.
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Not much really about bikes, but character rides a bike.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
